  1. I KNEW it wasn't just between the Giants and Toronto. Dan, I wrote on this thread a few days ago I couldn't imagine there were only the Giants and Blue Hays involved in the Burnes pursuit

  2. We it’s reported the Giants offered more and supposedly has to due with taxes. He lives in Arizona. That’s fine he was not going to be given a two year opt out. I agree with Giants don’t give an opt out if he is not committed.

  3. All this means is they pivot. With an opt-out after 2 years, that's not a Giant friendly contract anyway considering what Farhan did with Snell's contract.

  4. I wonder if the Giants pivot to Flaherty and even Montgomery. They need two starters and both Montgomery could thrive in SF. Doubtful the Dbacks want to trade within the division but the Giants would be doing them a favor as well as probably getting a motivated and healthy Montgomery

  5. Sad to say but Posey doing the right thing….rebuild is the right moves….I’m not surprised Webb & Doval will get a traded by summer. Burnes pitching also starting to decline.

  6. Im stunned the Diamondbacks were willing to dole out this massive deal. This is a repeat of the Greinke deal where they swooped in at the 11th hour and just offered way more than anyone else was willing to. While he is still elite his drop in K rate over the past 4 years is worrisome. 35.6, 30.5, 25.5, 23.1. I bet the Giants had reservations of going 6 years as well. The NL west is going to be wild!

  7. So 35 AAV, with an opt-out, and 6 years 210 if he doesn't opt out… Are you really disappointed that the Giants didn't go for that… If he looks great for 2 years he can leave, if he doesn't look good they have to pay him 35 a year while he declines, this is a hard pass… The Giants have been burned on these contracts before, I for one am not disappointed that they decided not to do this again.

  8. Obviously I don't have any right to criticize any professional athlete and what decisions they make in those RARE cases in which they are in control of their own destiny. But damn, I really loathe the dudes who hit FA and end up at a non competitive organization due to some contractual stipulation that some other competitive club wouldn't agree too… It's just hard to understand how someone would choose a slightly more lucrative contract from a sh1t team. Over a slightly less lucrative contract from a legitimate contender. I guess people are quick to forget that when they die, they can't take their money with them!

  9. SF TOTALLY dropped the ball here. If the Giants signed Burnes maybe Sasaki would look to go to the city by the bay. Nobody likes to lose. Posey choked on this one. Colorado and SF at the bottom of the NL west again.
