The Padres being so desperate for him kind of shows why he shouldn't go there. If a franchise is saying we have a bunch of aging players with long term deals and short term deals for the young players we would like to keep but probably can't shows how bad off they are.
Ridiculous contracts on this Padre team that are weighing them down like anchors.
The way LA is spending like drunken sailors again this offseason I can only imagine another stolen player heading to Alyssa Milano Land.
Matt Waldron’s second yr starting, Randy Vasquez, Steven Kolek, Bryan Hoeing and Adrian Morejon conversion to starters all in play. A core of Yu, Dylan and Michael is a solid foundation to make another go at the postseason. With or without Roki.
While critics see Preller as reckless; he’s been pretty consistent on they will listen on anyone. If they can fill areas of need with ML ready young pre arb controllable pieces; they have to consider it. The default is to run it back with Cease, Arrarez and internal options.
Snell v. Buehler/ Flaherty is a wash at best, Teo, Edman and Treinen all were there in 24 when the Padres had 2 shots to bounce them in the NLDS. They added 60M to the CBT, deferred more money and depleted their system while Muncy, Lux and Outman became expendable. The off-season isn’t done and there will be additions for San Diego.
Lighten up Francis.
