  1. It's fascinating to me how nearly everyone reacted with disgust at the firing of Coach Brown, much like they did when Hali was traded for Sabonis. Nearly everyone was wrong…again. The reason is that national folks do not pay attention to the Kings until they have to, & it's so often for a negative reason, which furthers their reputation as a poorly run franchise. National analysts, therefore, see any big Kings move as innately poor.
On the Brown issue specifically, I don't get the shock here, with the exception of course of the freshly signed contract…which is so Sac Kings. With the Kings, Coach Brown was what he's been everywhere. Really good, until he isn't. He's got a college mentality, which works well for young &-or underachieving teams….not so well for veteran teams, & I'd argue his style & knowledge base become less & less effective as the years pass, as the modern NBA is simply not the same game as it was in years past, from an X's & O's standpoint, & from a player engagement/team management standpoint. The Kings were in a tough spot as they virtually had to re-sign Brown due to his enormous relative success, but they also had to feel more than a bit of angst, knowing who/what Coach Brown is. The move should have been executed much better (so Kings), but it was inarguably the correct decision, as was naming Doug the interim HC, even though he was not even the lead assistant. That's the bit that Kings management/Ownership really should be getting more credit (flowers, as the kids say) for, as most teams would automatically name the lead assistant as the interim head coach. Anywho, here's to many years of success for Coach Christie & MY Kings!!!!!!!

  2. Great insight on my kings! Super fair analysis and one of the few takes on them where you can tell you guys have actually watched them play! One note, and you did give him some flowers, but Sabonis really deserves to be talked about as one of the very best players in the NBA he does everything and he never quits and never takes a day off. Guy is just unstoppable and LEADING THE LEAGUE IN 3pt %

  3. Most non- Kings fans have no idea how good Malik Monk is now but it’s been brewing for the last couple of seasons. He could be the primary guard for many teams. He just happens to be in Fox’s shadow

Appreciate you giving him his flowers.

  4. I don't think the Kings players are more determined… The players keep saying that the practice schedule is lighter, so they have more energy in the game. For a guy like Sabonis to say this, it must really impact their performance in games.

Also when Mike Brown was limiting Keon's minutes, for whatever reason, I knew he was part of the problem. The team should've made the playoffs last year TBH

  5. Most non- Kings fans have no idea how good Malik Monk is now but it’s been brewing for the last couple of seasons. He could be the primary guard for many teams. He just happens to be in Fox’s shadow

Appreciate you giving him his flowers.

Also I’m not sure how Keon Ellis can’t become better all around version of Alex Caruso. He’s already a better shooter.

  6. Jayden Daniels is the real deal. Happy for Legs and I’m sure it’s bitter sweet. My dad was a life long chiefs fan and passed just before they got Mahomes. I wish so bad I could just watch one single game with him again.

  7. Why Keon Ellis didn't play under Mike Brown – Coach Brown didn't have faith in him. He punished non-star players for making a mistake by benching them – sometimes to the point they DNP next few games. Doug Christie on other hand accepts players making mistakes as long as they are providing effort. This is one big difference why the team has become more fun to watch – players are trying harder because they know they can mess up but if they stick with it, Coach Christie will stick with them.

Another issue resolved was Coach Christie simplified the offensive and defensive playbook from Coach Brown. On offense, you have guys like Sabonis, Fox, Monk and DeRozen… do you need a million set plays to get them to run an offense that ends up as a Kevin Heurter 3? Now those four are freewheeling and that has led to Murray, Ellis, Lyles to get open looks.

Coach Brown didn't have faith in his players to play free and fast — for whatever reason — and that cost him his job.

  8. nobody knows anything about anything. yall killing the kings for sacking mike brown, everyone had something to say. but now they win games suddenly no one has anything to say. 😂😂

  9. The kings have always been the black sheep of the league and I've been a fan since the first year they moved to sactown, my hometown! And we've been waiting a long time for the team we have early 2000's was the best we've ever been….oh wait Christie was on the team the whole time and we have that same energy now I believe and this time hopefully we don't get beat by the league AGAIN!! YES IM STILL SALTY FROM 2002!…

  10. I spell it out for you two professional analysts/reporters/pundits about the mike brown situation. The player rotations and minutes changed with Christie. It’s not that magical as you speak about coach getting to the players when you watch the actual kings games.

  11. Kings fans aren’t bashing Mike brown. Prevailing thought is that he was a hard nose coach that lost the locker room, had some bad rotations, wanted to run more controlled offense, and would double down in his ways when faced with adversity. Mike was essential to the kings reshaping their culture and image across the league but he was not capable of coaching a team with expectations of winning. Doug has definitely shown an ability to connect with the guys mike was not able to but it remains to be seen how he does when faced with adversity or how he is when it comes to X’s and O’s, especially in a playoff series

  12. If Jayden Daniels reminds you of “Magic mixed with MJ” just say he reminds you of LeBron who is a mix of MJ & Magic (+ some Dr Jr, Bird as a passing forward all in Karl Malone’s body).

Also anyone sayin MJ or LeBron is the GOAT like it’s not debatable (the way Legler did and many ppl on both of GOAT debate do) is biased AF as it’s VERY debatable and I’ve seen both live center court row 9/11/13 center court 51/53x respectively.

Im MJ Bron BOTH have great Mount Rushmore BOTH athletes in ALL SPORTS!

Daniels is def special though. Andrew Luck was as a rookie too on an even worse roster than Redskins. My Colts ruined him physically so he only played 7yrs, but his 1st 7yrs he was def on his way to HOFer if he played 15-20 yrs like most of the GOAT.🤬

PS glad to see Sabonis playing so well as I’m diehard pacers fan of 40 yrs and I always said that trade was way more a win win then many were saying (as much as I like Hali who is 3+ yrs younger) bc Sabonis was already a multiple time All Star who had future HOF upside if he played at that level or a little better the next 8-10 yrs once he got to the Kings.

Now Jan 2025 Kings and my Pacers 2 of the 4 best teams in the NBA (record and net rating…the last 5-6 weeks for that matter at least for my Pacers).

Sabonis was robbed of All Star last yr and better make it this year! His counting stats and value/impact metrics all speak for themselves! He plays great h2h vs Jokic AD too.
