Should the Edmonton Oilers move their 1st round pick at the trade deadline?
With the lack of Ekholm like players available on the trade market heading into this trade deadline season. People are beginning to wonder if its even smart to trade for one.
The Edmonton Oilers also do not have a ton of options to use for trade bait except for some much needed prospects and a first round pick either this year or next year.
Do you think its worth it to trade their first round pick for this year or next?

Only if they get some one like let's say someone of the Morris Seider caliber and term. Before I get swarmed I doubt if he's available but it's an idea.
Little tweak's only, they have to keep adding prospects. Perry, Henrique and the like will not cut it.
Stan bowman is the oilers gm do the oilers have a cup no so close your mouth
Keep the first, player for player trades with term
any prospect not playing is on the table while we have this contender window imo
You go for the cup no matter what, when you're right on the edge
I am a Calgary Flames fan. It is not smart to trade first round picks. If I was Edmonton I wouldn’t do that. You win with what you got. The Oilers should be able to win a cup with the players they have. Trading a first round pick is just irresponsible for a short term chance that may not even pan out.
This is NOT the last year of Connor and Leon being on their contracts. It is only LEONS last year on his contract. Drives me insane that you call yourselves “oilers nation” but don’t know your captains contract situation 😂
the mindset to not get young players & to not develop them is very deficient…. ie kicking out all youth & speed…. Broberg-Holloway etc… mindset to pay Arvidsson/Henrique/Skinner /JBrown Campbell… due to their age.. has not been paying off …
Ofc you trade all and everything if you can make the team better. What a question. As i remember, the 2025 pick was traded with a clause, that if the Oil decides to trade that pick at the deadline, PHI will receive the 2026 1st.
Oil are top in the standings, their pick is Top 5, 8 or 10 for sure. Who would you expect to draft at No. 25 – 32 to help you in the next 1-2 years?
Oil will trade anything to win a cup.
they don't have a first rounder this year
Louie debrusk made a good statement last nights game about Bouchard. He sure had a hard time with the puck. I’m starting to see mistakes over and over every game with him giving away the puck. Is it just me? Anyone else think he looks lost out there
No. This is the type of move than in just a few years, you will look back and say, "Damn, if only we had that 1st…..".
Do not dump a 1st on a friggen rental.
Agreed. Don't need to make a home run move. Solve some of the (somewhat) one-dimensional overlap in the bottom 6 – instead of two or three guys who kill penalties but provide not much else, get a centre who can kill penalties AND actually score a few goals, or win faceoffs, or be an agitator, etc.
I love CBrown and the Janitor (and Derek Ryan, of course), but is there a guy out there who can do what they do, but a bit better? That gives the Oil the option to platoon a few of these guys, instead of relying on all of them night in and night out.
