Mason Marchment’s Electric Return! Reaction to Granlund and Ceci Trade plus the Stars rise!

On today’s episode of Locked On Stars, Joey Erickson recaps all the hottest news with the Dallas Stars that transpired over the weekend. Mason Marchment returned to the lineup with a goal last night in a 5-3 Stars win over the Blue Jackets to extend their winning streak to five games. We react to the Stars being in 3rd place in the NHL which is remarkable for the ups and downs and injuries to key pieces such as Tyler Seguin, Marchment and the latest Miro Heiskanen. Joey touches on Thomas Harley taking advantage of the Stars number one defenseman and Lian Bichsel’s increased minutes. Other segments include the Stars acquiring Cody Ceci and Mikael Granlund from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for a couple of draft picks. Joey gives his opinion on the move and why he thinks its a smart move from Jim Nill. To finish off the episode Joey discusses the amount of adversity the Stars have gone through and how this should benefit them come playoffs.

  5. Granlund was on my list a literal eternity ago, so yay there, ceci is a great pickup. He would be great with bischel, if miro was here. I will also say I think Lungvst would be a better partner to bischel compared to dumba. I don’t think dumba fits our lineup, and I’ll explain why.

    Dumba is a physical defensemen, that’s good! His problem however is he’s a bottom pair d-man. That creates a problem, because two physical d-man on a pair is rough. It is similar to an offensive defensemen in that they get out of position, so you need a different mindset to not get out of position.

    Because dumba SHOULD NOT be top 4, and lian isn’t ready to get out of the bottom pair, he’s a poor match. I think already lian is better than dumba.

    If pair 1 is (I think this is best) Miro/lindel (allows Miro to be offensive), pair two is Harley/lybushkin, then you need to figure out who compliments each other with 5/6. Ceci and bischel would be amazing. As far as moving forward, it would likely mean trying to trade dumba and nils.

    Dumba is overpaid for a #7, and I think nils won’t want to be a #7, and even if he was, IF he out performed ceci, it would make ceci an overpaid #7.

    I think we would get more trading them, IF ceci resigns. I also like Nils/bischel a TON

  6. Harley sort of resembles my all time favorite D-man Zubov . Silky smooth puck handler. I hope that Miro is back before playoffs and will be very comfortable with what we have.

  7. My God, the amount of doomsday moan and groan negativity from you for the last several videos is ridiculous man, even when we win you find every single thing to complain about. Stop, if you want to complain about then focus it all on Dumba because he's the sole cancer of this team that needs to be traded away, waived etcc. The rest of the team did great and even if Ceci didnt play his best, he deserves some leeway for just jumping into a completely new system with no practice time. Sheesh we're literally third in the league, lay off all of the negativity and just give praise where praise where it's due. Sick and tired of the bs about the Stars not being a deep playoff team. They're heating up and these trades plus one more which I suspect will happen soon enough and will include getting rid of Dumba will solidify this team as a true contender even though I think they already are one.

    Great to see our latest addition to the team, had such a quick trip across country, and jumped into their first game. Thought they did great with all that considered, their postgame interviews were great. Glad DeSmith got the win!

  10. Im excited for what's to come. I can surely tell you we're gonna go far again, our boys just need to stay encouraged. No more giving up when it matters most, and im seeing that written all over their faces this season. Despite countless injuries, they just keep playing better and better, and thats the mentality we need to take home Lord Stanleys Cup this season.
