It's time
Trade value for Monty and Erod. Prospects and not even top 5 prospects would be available. They're value is next to nothing. Trading Nelson would just be a bad move. With Gallen and Kelly pending free agents. You could option Phaadt to AAA. Remember Phaadt was down in AAA before the postseason. That would keep him stretched and wouldn't have any signs of fatigue. Nelson could be a long reliever. His pitch mix is much better suited for the bullpen. His command was very impressive but I expect the word to be out and Nelson could get tagged up from batters hunting the fastball. At this point best option is to use these veteran pitchers for wins and innings. I'm more disappointed they didn't sign a high leverage relief pitcher. Especially with Robertson on the market.
Liking this 'problem' of too many starters on the mound. Excited to see Jameson and Martinez keep developing this season too.
Gallen and Kelly will get hurt and miss probably a month each at least (hopefully not at the same time), so SP depth for this team is vital. I also do not see Gallen signing with the D-Backs as they will not pay him what he is going to ask for (unless heaven forbid he misses most of the season for some reason). My biggest question mark going into the season is how are they going to replace Peterson's offense from the left side. I am not as torn up over loosing Walker as he had a huge hole in his swing and top pitchers were able to nullify him high and tight. Lets hope for a great season which hopefully is the top wild card (do not even suggest they can beat the Dodgers for the division as that is simply delusional)
