Hansi Flick has been happy to trust in his young players since arriving at Barcelona and has been offered some advice on who to call up next.

Oscar Lopez, the former coach of Juvenil A, says that Flick should have no doubts at all about going for 20-year-old midfielder Aleix Garrido.

“Aleix is a spectacular player who has brutal conditions. Last year he was not respected by injuries but if he has a little continuity, he is a player capable of interpreting the game in an incredible way,”he told Sport.

“I don’t only like Aleix for what he brings on the pitch, his importance goes beyond the game and that he is an ideal player for any coach because of what he brings to the dressing room level and his ability to manage the group”.

“He is a talent that we will soon see at the top. If I were Flick I wouldn’t have any doubts.”

Garrido made his first-team debut in 2023 and said at the time he was hoping to follow in his good friend Gavi’s footsteps by making the breakthrough.

Yet his progress was disrupted last season by a series of injuries and we’ll have to wait and see if he can convince Flick he’s worth another chance in the first team.
