I think Poles should go after both of these players. Even if he has to overplay their combined salary will be less than Trey Smith.
It's a no brainer to sign a vet and draft behind them. Agree you do not want to have a OL full of rookies. AND WHAT ABOUT AMAGADJE? Shelton also has to go.
Scherff is my guy, IOWA Hawkeye
I would only spend 22+ million on a Left tackle, WR 1, a shut down corner or a Premiere edge rusher, not a guard…
I think a vet at any position is great for a rookie. As long as the price is right
Agreed 🎯
I think 2 veteran guards and maybe a rookie center (trey zabel) would be a winning combination with jones and wright as tackles
I’ve said multiple times, Will Fries and Jams Daniels are the picks
Poles' first pick must be Will Campbell, Tyler Booker, or Kevin Banks. We can acquire many DE and DTs in the second or beyond. It's a deep defensive class. Additionally, I like Mekhi Becton as well!
We'll have to wait and see how many of these free agents get retained by their current teams.
I would be interested in trading a late round pick to the Rams for Jonah Jackson LG. He was a starter for Detroit for 4 years and only left to get paid in FA. The Rams signed him to 3 years $51M (17 per year) contract but ended up benching him last year. I think LA would pick up $5M of his salary each year just to get him off the books at this point but he would be perfect for us.
Swifty what’s up, do you agree on giving up on Tevin Jenkins? Sure he’s injured sometimes, but he’s Chicago bears homegrown talent and wants to be here, I’m sure he falls into the same category of taking some time to be elite
I like the idea of only one rookie olineman at a time developing on a contender. but %99 of olineman need 9-11 games to get average play and they are going to need to actually play those games to get to average. maybe the vet guard works if he can make and validate the protection calls for the line. Maybe one Vet Center and one Vet LG lets you draft and play rookie RG and LT. if they get lucky with the rookies, the line sill isnt gonna be very good for the 1st 9 games, but it may get to average – which is still better than it was overall last year. by game 12 the line should look really good.. but there is gonna be pain regardless as the picks develop.
We need depth
I like the idea of signing veterans and developing the rookies. Is Amegadjie developing or was that a terrible Poles decision?
I like Zeitler has a short term solution.
Sheriff is a Hawkeye and I love my Hawks his biggest knock is the fact he can’t stay healthy like Jenkins.
Becton had issues pass blocking but I’m not sure a rookie would do much better. So if we signed becton I wouldn’t complain.
Trey smith I think is just going to cost too much unless Poles can restructure contracts to gain 100 mill in cap space.
Veterans still have value
Here is another option, Arlic Jackson (former Hawkeye) is a solid LT, better than BJ, kick BJ to LG and sign one of these Vets and draft the prospects to replace them while being developed
Love ya Swifty
YO SWIFTY MA MAN ! LET ME ASK YOU A QUESTION . WHEN YOU SAY ( in your reporting ) G.M. POLES SHOULD TARGET A CERTAIN BALLER THE QUESTIONS IS. HOW CAN , LET'S SAY MAKE HIS OR HER'S COMMENT BE HEARD TO ACTUALLY PICK THE BALLER THAT OUR TEAM NEEDS ,I MEAN I KNOW I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS THAT SAME QUESTION , AND WILL HE PICK , OR DRAFT SAID TARGET ? I KNOW WE AS WELL AS YOU THINK THE SAME ON TARGETING . NOW THIS BALLER ZEITLER SOUNDS LIKE AN OUTSTANDING BALLER TO STABILIZE THE ON OFFENSE WITH A TON OF EXPERIENCE , AND NOT TO MUCH PAPER ? YEAH. WELL KNOWING COACH JOHNSON IS A PLUS . YES SIR SWIFTY POLES HAS TO CONSIDER AGE , FOR THE LONG TERM OF COURSE . ALSO REMEMBER SWIFTY WE HAVE TO CONSIDER INJURIES IS THE BALLER BEING PICKED FOR THE POSITION BEEN INJURED ? IS HE FULLY RECOVERED FROM IT ? IS IT GOING TO COME BACK AND HAUNT THE TEAM ( our team ) OR HIMSELF ?
MA MAN I THINK THOSE ARE LEGITIMATE QUESTIONS FOR GOING AFTER THE BALLER IN QUESTION !?!? AS USUAL OUTSTANDING REPORT SWIFTY THANKS . BEAR DOWN BECAUSE
" SWIFTYS IN DA HOUSE "
Poles has learned to make Marks of the Media 😅😅😅💯. 2 weeks ago, Bears are gonna open up and spend big on DL. Week ago. Bears are gonna draft DL heavy. I've heard Bears like Starks, Jeanty.. Poles is trying to create a bidding war for No 10. It won't happen until draft day, but you have all these messages out where if you want CB1, Bears have expressed interest in draft him. Top Safety, Top RB? Bears have expressed interest. I really think looking at this draft, his plan is to try and get a 2nd Rd pick moving down.
I hpe Tev wants to stay & har a career year & stays healthy
Veteran help on O line for short term is wise for development of youth and it is wise to go into the next season to protect Caleb better and instill a winning attitude. Just a thought.
Aaron Banks 49ers is only 27
James Danies Steelers is only 27
Nailed it. Must have the stop gaps. impossible to build an Oline with youth in 1 year. cant be done.
It's definitely a need for this team to bring in a veteran presence.Somebody good in that locker room. That could teach these guys how to be professionals
I'm in agreement with you swift, I gave this a lot of thought as well. If I'm the GM that's exactly what I would do. U be on point Swift!!💪🏿🐻⬇️
Yes we need to sign 2 guards or a center and 2 guards
