I don't see why people have such a problem with keeping him at 3B. It is the second least consequential position in the infield. I would much rather see Bregman play at 2B or SS, depending on how Trevor Story does. This would help our defense more than placing him at 3B.

From the stats you are correct, HOWEVER, if the Red Sox told Devers the 3rd base job was his, that's on THEM. You break promises then it's justified for the other person to be upset. Same as the Yankees pitcher Marcus Stroman. You sign a guy to be a starting pitcher then ask him to become a reliever right before he can get paid again… that's a betrayal. If that happened to us we would be doing similar things. It's a two way street.

His value wouldn't go up at 1B. The positional adjustment from third to first is huge. If he was an average first baseman, his WAR value would be virtually unchanged, and our assumption should be, until proven otherwise, that he would be a below average glove at first also.
I don't understand his position. He already has his long-term contract so it's not like he kills his value by switching. To top it off, he is not a good fielder.. You would think if he cared about improving the team he would do it.

Yup…this is idiotic. It’s not akin to Jeter/ARod in any sense….Jeter was a minted captain of a dynasty headed for immortality who was also a solid SS in his prime. Moreover it actually made sense to move the better athlete, ARod, to the new position even though he was a better defensive SS than Jeter because the collective result was likely to be better. Their combined defense was likely best with ARod at 3rd and Jeter at SS, rather than inverted. Here we have Devers, who is a crappy defensive 3rd baseman always assumed to eventually move to first or full time DH. Conversely, Bregman is excellent defensively AND a key element in getting value on his deal comes from playing him at 3rd. Leaving Devers at 3rd compromises team defense and undercuts the whole premise of bringing in Bregman. Making this especially frustrating is that Devers has already signed a massive $313 million extension so there’s no financial incentive for him to pretend he’s a 3B anymore. He’s getting paid every penny regardless of position and he’s 9 years away from free agency lol. He’s just stubbornly clinging to a position he can’t really play despite having many years to master it. I’d blame the Sox but who the hell thought this was a realistic possibility. You fucking stink at 3rd….you’re an awesome bat, you’re generationally wealthy now….why are you fucking things up??

They could've built around Mookie and made him a lifetimer, but decided to sell him for scrap and chose Devers to be the face of their franchise instead. LMAO!
How is he going to hurt the Red Sox exactly??? He had less than 20 errors last year and had numerous games with multiple errors. He may have had errors in 13-14 games all year and most of those the Red Sox won, and many of his error's came in blowout's. His errors in the grand scheme of things are not costing the team, especially since he is easily one of the best bats in MLB. You people are delusional lol. The Red Sox have had a glaring hole at 2nd base for nearly 10 years since Pedroia stopped playing and now Bregman can fill that hole because Devers can't play 2nd base.
So what do you think makes more sense moving Devers to DH and relegating Yoshida to a useless bat or keep Devers at 3rd where he isn't costing the Red Sox games, put Bregman at 2nd and finally have a reliable 2nd baseman, and keep Yoshida's plus bat in the line-up lol……………………..if you need to think about that you're not very bright. The Red Sox will have gold glove caliber defenders at 1st, 2nd, and SS with Casas, Bregman, and Story.
