“I decided not to do the Boston documentary because of what Jordan and The Last Dance did,” Thomas told SiriusXM NBA Radio this week. “They totally set me up and blindsided me. And I wasn’t gonna get fooled twice. So I just decided not to participate in the documentary and be able to talk about it. But I wasn’t gonna go on film and sit there and be set up, and potentially be set up again, like I was set up in The Last Dance.”

Until I get a public apology, this beef is gonna go on for a long long time, cause I’m from the west side of Chicago.”

“And then this guy comes on television and he says that he hates me and then he calls me an a–hole. And then I proceed to watch a whole documentary about him being an a–hole. I’m like wait a minute, time out. Until I get a public apology, this beef is gonna go on for a long long time, cause I’m from the west side of Chicago.”

“This dude got on national television, international television, and called me an a– hole,” Thomas told Draymond Green on his podcast. “Somebody who’s been really good to him.”

“And until he apologizes on international television, we… no conversation. You can’t apologize and have a private dinner when you done embarrassed me publicly. If you didn’t mean it, say it publicly. Now if you meant it, let it stand. I’m good with that.”

Isiah Thomas Is Not In 'Celtics City' Because Of 'The Last Dance'

  1. I was still confused after reading this but if you go look up the credits for both documentaries, apparently The Last Dance and Celtics City share at least one producer in common.

  2. The Last Dance really didn’t say anything about the Bulls/ Pistons beef or the Isiah Thomas stuff that wasn’t already said in other ESPN documentaries and other places in general. People have called Thomas an asshole in a lot of different things. The only difference is that more people saw this particular ESPN documentary.

The Pistons weren’t even portrayed that villainously in The Last Dance. It touched on their assendency, gave a lot of props to the players and and frankly made their “bad boys” shtick sound pretty cool. The “When you come into Detroit… you’re gonna get your ass whooped” line with the music is one of my favorite moments. A lot of my friends looked up old Pistons highlights specifically because of their portrayal.

The Documentary even supported Thomas’ argument that the handshake issue was overblown by showing footage of the Celtics leaving the floor during their game too.

I honestly don’t think the documentary is nearly as one-sided as people like to sometimes claim. The audience ultimately sided with Jordan, as people always have, but the documentary doesn’t really hide the ball on much. It touches on all the biggest Jordan criticisms and gives space for other people to say their piece.

  3. Gimme Isiah’s bank account and you can say whatever the fuck you want about me

  4. He won’t get any apologies until he apologizes for his cheap antics on the court.

  5. Besides the pistons title runs, everything this asshole has touched has turned to shit. Makes sense he’d go on Draymond’s podcast.

  6. Look I love making fun of Bill Simmons because he’s such a homer but I don’t think he would have done Thomas dirty

  7. Bro spent his entire post-playing life whining about MJ and trying to diminish him, and he thinks he was set up by The Last Dance? They didn’t even say anything new about him. What did he expect it was going to be?

  8. I refuse to be in the same room as Isiah until he apologizes for trading for Eddy curry and signing Jerome James and the other million things, I was totally set up and blindsided and I wasn’t gonna get fooled twice

  9. I don’t think anyone watching a Celtics doc gives a flying fuck whether he’s in it or not

  10. He was blindsided by Jordan thinking he’s an asshole? The entire world knows Jordan hates him. How was he blindsided. Come on zeke

  11. I guess he’ll die with that beef.. what a shame. Holding himself back from moving on in life.

  12. Idk at a certain point you’re only doing yourself a disservice by not sharing your side of things. But I get it, I can be thick-skulled about some petty shit too.

TBH I think Detroit needs their own Celtics City style doc

  13. “cause I’m from Chicago.”

Is it not enough that Kanye embarrasses us with that shit?

  14. Zeke for sure has a legitimate grievance w being left off the dream team, but in fairness, MJ is far from the first person to call him an asshole, on TV or otherwise

  15. Thomas so badly wants to be viewed as a gentlemen elder statesmen.

He was the leader of the bad boys. Lean into it like Laimbeer still does.

And you know what, Michael Jordan called him an asshole on camera but he also clearly stated he thinks Thomas is the second best point guard of all time behind Magic,

That’s higher than most people place Thomas, take the praise from the GOAT and laugh at him still being butthurt at the same time.

  16. Chicago dont claim you isiah thomas. We hate you and think youre a giant piece of shit just like everyone else.

  17. I feel him on some level though. Everybody was doing what the Pistons were doing, or that’s what people who prop up the physicality of the 80s tell us. Shit I wasn’t close to being born, and I know those McHale elbows were as lethal as his post moves. So the Pistons being the only team being labeled dirty assholes is def revisionist, and it’s not like Isiah gains anything from the movie. It’s like asking the same Russian to be in every American-made Cold War movie.

  18. I imagine Isiah also really, really doesn‘t want to get asked about that one Larry Bird controversy again

  19. “I was an asshole for years and I’m upset at the consequences of my actions”

  20. “I’m from the hood, so please apologize to me and don’t publicly fool me or I won’t be in your Hollywood-produced documentary!”

    Real tough guy.

  21. Why would he be surprised Jordan said he was an asshole? Like what did he think was going to happen, Jordan suddenly cries and says I misunderstood Isiah all along?

  22. Zeke disrespected Jordan and I can’t think of two guys who can hold a grudge harder than them. When the rapture comes, all that will be left is spam, roaches, and the intense hatred Zeke and MJ have for each other

  23. I’m from the Chicago area. We all hate Isiah. Dudes one not a very good guy.

And two just keeps shitting on the most popular athlete we’ve ever had. All because he’s just a whiny little bitch

Also the west side of Chicago is a hell hole.

  24. Jordan is such a dick but then again, so is Isiah, so fuck him. You want to be the “bad boy” and be a dick to people then you probably shouldn’t trust people are going to do right by you for fun. Especially Jordan. What an idiot.

  25. My dad still claims he beat Isiah Thomas in a 1-on-1 for a state camp. I still call bullshit.

  26. How did he get “set up” by The Last Dance? I didn’t think he came off as anything other than a competitor. Maybe a bit surly, but no more than any other surly NBA superstar.
