1. The guy clearly didn't want to be here. He looked lost and only scored two goals in all the games that we had him. When you think about it it was not a bad return for the canes. We got a good young player two first round picks two second round picks, hall and slot of cap space.

7. Congrats, the guy managed to piss off not only Canes fans but Avalanche fans as well. I am sure the Avs front office is also livid, since they will now get to deal with an even more deadly Dallas team within the same year and for years to come. I can't help but wonder if his decision to sign in Dallas was motivated by revenge, and wanting to eliminate the Avs from the playoff race.

8. On some level, I wonder if Rantanen blamed Carolina for stepping up — which allowed Colorado to trade him away. Because Colorado was where he really wanted to stay even though he wasn't ready to settle for their number yet. But Carolina took that decision out of his hands.
