Reports: Utah NHL team (Mammoth?) has selected permanent name

According to the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Uyte LLC (the same organization that originally filed for all the Utah Hockey Club names) has applied for and been granted an extension for the Utah Mammoth nickname as well a Utah Hockey Club name.

As of February 4, 2025, an application extension was granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office for Utah Mammoth

What’s significant about the extension for Mammoth, is that only a blank Utah Hockey Club name has received the same extension. Meanwhile, Outlaws will not require an extension until April.

  2. IMO, Yeti and Mammoth are the same concept, large, mammals that live in the snow. Yeti was better because of the alliteration, but Mammoths actually lived in Utah. So it's a bit of a trade off but the same vibe.

  6. Best way to reveal the team's new name, is right after hoisting the Stanley Cup above their heads. btw, I have always liked Mammoth, fwiw. Here's hoping they have a 'simple' mammoth on the jerseys, but use a more 'cartoonish, stick-wielding mammoth character' in lots of other areas/media.

  11. Have to admit the logo idea for UHC looks really good, but UHC isn't as good a name as Utah Mammoth in my view, so I'd pick Mammoth: Great name. Good logo. Better re. marketing ideas.

  18. Maybe they will surprise everyone and Utah Hockey Club reach an agreement with Yeti company to use the name and make Yeti beverage coolers the official beverage cooler of the Utah Yeti.
