I hate conspiracy theories especially in sports where they seem like total guesses.
But what’s the alternative here? Nico is the dumbest GM ever and got played.

Mark Cuban knows NBA is harder to make money now. He sold the team for the best bid. I don’t understand why he needs to make any comment to the current owner.
It is a new team. He can put in all minimum salary players if he wants. Not everyone in NBA is for the championship. Some people see it as a business and don’t want to pay salary and luxury tax.
I don’t understand the hate for Mark Cuban. He put everything into the team for a long time and sold out at a good time for a lot of money. If every team owner in sports was like Cuban the sports world would be significantly better. The people he sold to and their gm of choice decided to make a really dumb decision after he was no longer in power.
Yes, Nico was hired by Cuban. Yes, Mark is partly to blame. BUT, I truly believe that Mark Cuban would never trade Luka, and definitely not the way Nico-Dumont did.

Nico has been a great GM for a few teams in the league, just not the one he works for
Dennis Lindsey was with the Mavs up to last season and he was advising Nico and clearly keeping him in line. In the off-season he left for the Pistons, and lo and behold, the Pistons are suddenly good and the Mavericks make the worst trade in the history of the league.

Anyone who thinks Nico Harrison traded Luka on his own has room temperature IQ, he needed the owners backing to do that and he clearly got it, but the dumbest fans think they can somehow get him fired for doing what the owner wanted
The owner didn’t want to pay Luka the supermax, the owner clearly said trade Luka so we get something for him, maybe someday Mavs fans will wake up
