Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark has completely changed the outlook of women’s basketball. She has brought a completely new fan base to the WNBA and has made the league a lot of money in the process.

Heading into her second professional season, Clark has continued to receive jabs and shots from current and former players. Despite all she has done for the game of women’s basketball, she has received a lot of criticism and hate.

That isn’t lost on some current and former players either.

Cydney Henderson of USA Today shared Leslie’s quotes about Clark and the way she is treated and covered.

“I think we have to understand that when one player eats, we’re all eating and we all get more opportunities. It just opens it up for everyone else,” Leslie said. “I love that she’s not the player that makes it all about her. She’s given love and homage to the players that have come before her. She shares the wealth with her teammates and she doesn’t have to do that.”

Leslie continued on, opening up about how thankful she is for Clark and the impact she has had on the game.

“Listen, Caitlin I’m so grateful for her,” she said. “I’m thankful for all these women and where this game is and we need to step back and see the big picture of how it’s impacting all of us.”

Despite facing immense pressure as a rookie, Clark did not disappoint. She averaged 19.2 points per game to go along with 8.4 assists, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.3 steals, while also shooting 41.7% from the floor and 34.4% from 3-point range.

Clark and the Fever will begin their 2025 season on May 17 with a key matchup against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky.
