Tusks Up, Mammoth!

  1. Puck possession guys, puck possession with less than a minute to go in OT. Take it back to the neutral zone, I don’t care. Hefty price to pay.

  2. I love this team. We had fun tonight. Things are only going to get more fun from here. Every season from this season forward will only keep getting better. The dirty work happened in Arizona, from this point forward things are only going to keep getting better. We were never supposed to make playoffs this year and as of a few days ago we were in the conversation.

  3. While I wish we could have gotten both points tonight, it was wonderful seeing our boys fight back to send it to overtime. We pushed the defending Stanley Cup champions to overtime, and kept them to one goal in regulation! Veggie looked like the greatest goalie in the world (which he is) and the penalty kill was insane all game. I’m proud of our boys’ efforts and it’s games like these I fall more and more in love with this team!

    Let’s go Mammoth!

  4. I’m just excited to see where this team can go from here. We’re not gonna make the playoffs this year, but that’s gonna make them absolutely ravenous for the playoffs next season.

We’ll finish this inaugural season off strong and go into the summer with a bright future

  5. Not a bounce back win, but a bounce back game nonetheless. The locker room was at an all time low last night and like others have said, it’s more important to see how you respond to a bad game than it is to have one. All in all, I like the response!

In some regards we had a vintage UHC experience! Injured defensemen (Olli left in the 2nd with a lower body injury) and we had more time in the box than we had since December 22nd. We also had Veggie defying all odds and keeping us right in the game.

The first two periods were good, and were it not for time in the box they would have been great! Our urgency in the third was super great to see! They were fighting hard in puck battles and throwing shots on net! Had we played like that for all 60 minutes I think we would have won this game, especially with the night Veggie had himself!

But ultimately I think our biggest failure was in the power play. It has been really bad for a while, and I am having a hard time understanding why. Could need a change up, could use a more shoot first mentality, could be something else. I want to see that start clicking before this season ends, because it is such a crucial part of the game and could have pulled us up to a win if we had things working on that front.

Overall, I am sad we lost but not devastated. They started playing the right way when not hindered as much by penalty minutes, and it’s encouraging to see they aren’t giving up after a rough stretch of games.

Let’s rest easy and go club the blackhawks on Sunday!

I think until further notice I am retiring the “We are coming” for this season. But in a broader sense, we are coming and I’m happy to witness it with y’all!

    Love you all!
