5. Why would you sign to be an oiler when the Oilers have not graduated a single player from their farm team and what five years? It’s well known and documented that the Oilers do not cultivate talent in their farm system. We’ve seen it and many of us argued about it because this is the state of things in Edmonton for this team. Anyway, that was the only question I had that I thought was worth asking after the signing.

6. What I’m wondering is why Frederick is not on LTR because if he was then we could put in Kane maybe for the last two games. Could turn into a real win-win situation getting him on the ice for a couple of games.

16. I've heard talk on Oilers Nation that Evander could play befor ethe end of the season – how is that possible with the cap. They didn't elaborate – think they were assuming McDavid could go on LTIR. I don't think that is possible. But what about Ekholm LTIR for the rest of the season. Could they do that?

17. I would love to see the new signing, Regula and Savoie getting into the team next year. We have to start blooding young talent.

18. Actually, the Oilers have graduated players from their farm system. Those players are now in St. Louis. In 75 games Dylan Holloway has 26 goals and 36 assist for 62 points. He is a +20. In 62 games Philip Broberg has 8 goals and 19 assists for 27 points. He is also a +20. Not too shabby! Stan Bowman was on After Hours following the Calgary game. Scott Oake asked him about the offer sheets given to Holloway and Broberg. Bowman said they couldn't match the offer sheets without losing core players on the team. Like whom? Holloway and Broberg were core players. The team has players that they could have moved on from to match the offer sheets. Not necessary for me to name names. We know who's not producing. I'm not talking about Skinner or Arvidsson either. I thought they were going to be good additions. Unfortunately, it hasn't worked out that way. Who are the top forwards beside 97 and 29? Nuge, Zach and Kane when he comes back. Holloway would be the third leading scorer on the team. I think he's something like 25 years old too. Broberg would be a top four d-man. He's also in his 20s. With their help the Blues have gone 15-2-2 in their last 19 games. The Blues have as many points as the Oilers do. So, we lose our two best young players for nothing. Duh! I wonder what the hell Daryl Katz is doing? Rogers Place could also be called McDavid's place. Isn't it built around him and the star player potential he brought him when he was drafted as McSaviour? He was going to rescue the team from the Decade of Darkness and bring a Stanley Cup home to Edmonton. Not looking good right now is it? So, if I was Katz I'd be royally pissed off. Sure, you hire people to do a job. You don't interfere with them. In this case he should kick ass. Hey Jeff and Stan! There's the door, don't let it hit you on your way out. Ken Holland brought this team to within two goals of winning the Cup. Jeff and Stan have brought this team to the point where they might not get out of the first round. Couldn't afford to lose players like Holloway and Broberg. Simple as that. Their replacements not nearly as good. Damn it, I loved watching Oilers hockey in June.

    Little nervous about playing the kings again beating a team 16 times in 4 years in the playoffs is hard I don’t like those odds

21. Team-depth-wise, I think it's good that the other players are getting more play time before the playoffs.
    Health-wise, not only for the playoffs, but also for upcoming seasons, we don't want our best players to suffer from recurrent injuries if they don't heal completely now.
    Psychology-wise, like last year when almost everyone forgot about the Oilers because of catching up all season from their bad start, so they were not taken seriously until the 4th round of the playoffs, it might help again for other teams not to be as psyched-up as they should be to face an Oiler bench back to full form!
