I have the same view of Spencer Rattler. The team around him last year when he started was not conducive to him playing well. The offensive line and receivers were depleted. I do not think any quarterback would have been able to play really well under the circumstances, and certainly not a rookie. While he may not be the future, evaluating off of last year is not entirely fair.

  1. I presume at this point it’s the Brock Purdy argument. Logically Purdy only succeeded because of an elite line and superior skill position players. But what could Purdy do on a shit squad? Purdy showed he can excel being put in that situation. But now they have to pay him now and the veterans are all leaving. Personally, you’d need that setup for Rattler to have a chance. However, what would provoke anyone to commit to Rattler like that? He was so bad last year that even with substantial improvement he’s maybe Minshew or Levis. You can’t win with that.

  2. I wonder how much he’d improve if Rattler trained w Brees in the offseason and recognize miscues and read NFL defenses even better than he does now.

  3. Hot take: new coaches don’t usually come in and talk about how much everybody sucks.

  4. I’d rather give Rattler a fair chance at the job than using a #9 pick. Get an OL guard and 2nd and 3rd round get DLine or LB and Edge and then WR
