Maybe it's just because I'm not from North America, and sporting culture/fandom is very different in Europe, but…. my god, stopping the game midway through to have a ceremony for an individual player is absolutely up there with one of the worst things I've ever witnessed in sports and made the whole moment a bit of a circus for me.

    Wait until the end of the game. Do it at his next home game. Do both of those things if needs be… But why are we stopping the game 9 minutes into the 2nd period for a 20 minute break, rolling out carpets and having speeches in the middle of the ice while a game is still going on?? How unbelievably strange.

    Congratulations to Ovi. I don't think this record will be beaten in my life time, and I'm happy its gone to such a great person as well as player.

  25. Masakr 🙂 Když jsem byl základní školou povinný a viděl jsem to šílené číslo, které vypálil W. Gretzky, říkal jsem si – to nelze překonat, to je naprostá šílenost. No byl to rok 98 nebo 99. A dnes sport ukázal, že je limit zase někde jinde. Velká gratulace a moc bych A. Ovečkinovi přál, aby překonal magické číslo 900. A budu se těšit na dalšího borce, který teprve možná začíná hrát a který ho překoná 🙂 Možná se toho dočkám, ikdyž asi budu už střílet naplno do gatí a nerozeznám hokej od plavání 😀 Všem sportovcům klobouk dolů. Jste správní rváči 🙂

  38. What i respect about ovi the most is he did with one team, thats loyalty few can say in this day of age…not even a caps fan but man u guys r lucky to have a player like that for full career
