Mel Kiper did another mock draft, and he has a toolsy DE dropping to the Commanders. But, should they consider trading back, or improving elsewhere?

I think the 'weapon' for JD5 is gonna be a homerun threat rb in the middle-ish of the draft. Already added other help on offense
I'd vote Defense. I'd even double up on EDGE.
That O last year moved with impunity against teams that were even as good as the Eagles and Lions. That Defense is what killed them in the big games. Especially the Run Defense.
Fundamentally, it doesn't matter if you move up, down, or sit where you are. You have to NAIL the pick. That's all that matters. Trading Back isn't inherently good in and of itself.
A perfect example is the 2011 Draft. WSH moved back from 10 to 16, fleecing the Jags who picked Blaine Gabbert and picked up Ryan Kerrigan. Unfortunately the 11th overall pick was used by Houston to pick JJ Watt and our 3-4 D did not have a proper 3-4 DL until Allen and Payne arrived years later. Go back and look at that draft. Washington had the most picks that year. All they did was Trade Back and aside from Kerrigan, every one of those guys stank.
Trade back. Then: RB and DE
What's not mentioned is two offensive players DC can't pass – Henderson and Josh Simmons are still available on Kiper's draft!!
Depending on who ā¦.if BPA is there and a middle tier DE ⦠AP will probably go BPA or trade back
I'm not developing no #29 pick, lol. Care less about trading bk. Get best player!!
Judkins is overrated
I think the only way the Commanders dont trade back is if somone they have rated high falls in the 1st round
Trade back than bpa edge or cb
I'm not trading back for a bunch of unsure developmental talent…The trading back narrative missing out on better quality talent in exchange for more quantity and less below average talent has never been logical to me… Just take the best available talent and call it a day please.. Now if you wanna trade back late in the 4th or 5th for some extra backups and high end special teamers then that's a little different…š¤·š½āāļø
Iām 1000% in on Golden
The Tunsil trade cost the Commanders their 2026 2nd and 4th round picks. If the Commanders think that all of the players from 29-35 are equally valuable, then it would make sense to trade back solely to obtain draft picks in 2026. If trade value was equivalent to a 4th round pick in 2025 then you might be able switch it to a 3rd round pick in 2026. Think long-term.
Is there any world where we trade up for Ashton Jenty and call it a draft? I hate to think of facing Saquon and Ashton twice each if cowboys get em.
No
You go dend if the guy you want is there
