[KJ Simpson on social] My prayers are with @jaylen_wells , I know we already spoke and are good friends bro but again I just wanted to express not only to J but to his family as well how deeply sorry I am. I would never purposely do that to anyone. I’m just extremely sorry

Wells responded with "Much love brother. Thank you."

Such a good kid, I really like this guy. Unfortunate what happened but I’m glad he’s going above and beyond to express his remorse
You could tell from the video that it wasn’t intentional. Just tragic situation, hope Wells recovers 100%.
I have a lot of respect for KJ for this apology.
Undercutting is probably the most dangerous play in basketball, and the risk of injury isn’t worth the defensive attempt. But I can understand how KJ could end up involved in that play, given the context. He’s an undersized guard and second-round pick who has been back and forth to the G League. Injuries have given him a rare opportunity to play substantial NBA minutes. He’s the exact type of player that could quickly find himself out of the league, so he has to capitalize. And the new Hornets regime has publicly emphasized that it wants better defensive effort from its players. I think it’s understandable that someone in that situation could be overzealous and make a reckless defensive effort.
