Lakers' Luka Dončić becomes first international player to have NBA's highest-selling jersey.

Dončić, who is from Slovenia, is the first international player to top the most popular jerseys list and the first player other than Stephen Curry or LeBron James to top the list since the 2012-13

Crazy no international player has done this before, I definitely thought Yao Ming jersey somehow did this cause of China influence.

  1. I mean I shouldn’t be surprised that Lebron and Curry were on the top of the list for 12 years but at the same time I just can’t fully comprehend the fact that no one else ever topped them for over a whole decade, actually insane.

  2. I mean Bronny supposedly sold 500,000 shirts.

Lakers + Luka = Massive windfall

  3. It’s only indicative because of the market. If Giannis went to a top 5 market he would be number one, too. Same with joker etc

  4. Is this because he had 2 teams? Like twice the market (and the Lakers is a big one).

  5. I wonder if they factored in the money he brought in with jersey sales before trading. I mean talk about really trading away your golden goose Luka makes money.

  6. Yao could’ve done it, but his billions of fans were from China. You know, the same China that is the world’s ground zero for manufacturing fake shit. I don’t think the NBA counts those bootleg jerseys.

If you count pirated jerseys, probably yes.

Authentic NBA jerseys would’ve been too expensive for most Chinese fans especially in the 2000s when China was much poorer than now.

  8. That’s because this year you have to buy his jersey twice to get both team variants.

  9. And we have a face of the league…. I never want to hear this discussed again if possible. All it took was a sus trade to a big market. Good to know.

  10. Just looked it up, Lebron had the best-selling jersey his rookie season which I find interesting.

  11. With the state that Slovenian basketball in general is at the moment…this is unimaginable. We don’t even have any players that play meaningful roles in euroleague..and then there’s this guy.
