  1. Stop. Sending. Out. Talent.

His presence doesn’t hinder the team financially or on the court. He’s not stopping them from a rebuild or a retool or whatever. They will never be stuck with dead money with him because of the contract structure. They will not be able to get a player of his caliber without losing to get a good draft pick. Regardless of everything else, the talent is real and he adds a ceiling to this team that they won’t be able to get to.

  2. We will never find talent like Zion and Bi again. We’ll be left with nothing if we trade Z

  3. Trading Zion would be kinda tough but i’m okay with it only if we get Flagg or Harper. With all due respect to guys like Trey and Herb, this team would be pretty mid or maybe even bad if your core is Trey, Herb, Missi, and let’s say the 7th pick in the draft.

  4. Shamit did say earlier today that it seems Dumars wanted to keep Zion(which I hope is true)….but still, this franchise is just so ridiculously depressing.

  5. This is total speculation based on Shamit’s post yesterday. Then like an hour ago he directly contradicted that, so now it’s speculation based on retracted speculation.

Non story. Maybe they trade him, maybe they don’t. Tune in next time.

  6. How about the New Orleans Pelicans ownership go FUCK THEMSELVES WITH A CACTUS?

    I’d much prefer that.

  7. I would not be shocked if it comes out that Griff got fired because he wanted to keep Zion and also wanted a coaching change.

All these rumors of a mandate to keep Willie and trade Zion is such a massive red flag for me.

  8. The only way you even think about trading Zion is if you get the #1 pick… other than that his ass stays here.

  9. Cool cool cool. Now the next 2-3 years is going to be a barrage of “When are the Pelicans going to trade Herb Jones and Trey Murphy and built around Missi and ’25 Lotto pick”

    Super duper

  10. I honestly don’t think this is the worst idea. But the reasons we are doing it are wrong.

If we got Bob Myers and he himself had this initiative, I think I would be fine and/or more understanding.

It’s more that we have Joe Dumars, who we hired immediately. This is coming from ownership, whose reasons are dumb. That this sucks and leaves such a sour taste.

  11. Ownership cares more about image than actually trying to win, gonna be hilarious when the next “generational” talent we draft goes through the same thing, ownership doesn’t realise there the problem not the players, we could draft Wemby and they’d somehow mess that up

  12. I’m glad people have finally come to the conclusion that this ownership group is unserious as fuck and an absolute anchor on our future progress. It’s the worst kind of situation.

  13. If the ownership is telling the GM what to do as far as player and roster construction goes, then why even have a GM?

  14. Terrible coaching. No matter what good players we have, we have shitty management.

  15. I was 99% out already, if they do this it’ll just be the last straw. I hate everything about this org, good luck for anybody who still cares

  16. For everyone saying no to trading him, let’s see how quick your opinion changes when he gets hurt next. You trade him now when he has value. The experiment failed. Zion is not going to stay a pelican for his entire career. Pull off the bandaid already and move on.
