Noooooooooooooooo, make a trade for an all star but not Zion or Durant
I ❤love our Lord savior Jesus Christ and the blazers ❤🎉
I wonder if they should trade Simons and Grant for a 1 year rental of Durant. If that's all we give up, it gives them one year of fun and then the next year financial flexibility when he walks.
I'm more about the legs. Teeth? Eh.
Now let's go get Asa Newell
I really hope this doesn’t happen but I see them trading scoot for zion
Mixed feeling about the possible trades I’ve heard about for the likes of Durant or Williamson or Morant. Seems all three have obvious possible downsides, but equally obvious merits. If they can get their services for cheap then I suppose.
Not to mention the factor of Portland, OR not being an attractive choice to many players whether free agent or no is something that might mitigate against such a trade. If the player says hell no to such a trade and they don’t want to live in a place that gets eight or nine months of gloomy rainy weather a year that would not help. Don’t want a situation in which a player refuses to play to force a trade a la Ben Simmons (I know, slightly different scenario but still).
Fantastic coverage as per usual!
What a terrible mistake it would be to acquire a KD or a Zion or any superstar for that matter !
Let the young guys develop into their full potential, add some shooting around 1-2 40% 3pt wings 3 and D guys, let Deni become the all star he is, and most importantly get rid of Simons even if you only get a couple of third round picks for him (yes I know…)
They should trade Shay and Ayton for an extended Dyson Daniels.
Trade one vet for a player or pick this year , and one for a player or pick next year. Then make the playffs next year and give Chicago the pick then , freeing all future picks !
P.S about Zion specifically to most important question to ask is how is the fast food in Portland ?
I don’t even want to hear that we are even entertaining the idea of trading for KD. I will literally take a break from being a Blazers fan if he dons the red, white, and black
Blazers don't need an allstar next year. Eventually they will need one (somebody step up or from outside), but it will be in 2-3 years when they be in their peak. They need the right allstar with the right deal. It's definitely not Durant, probably neither Zion.
Oh god no, Zion will never be healthy for more than 30 games a season. But if there would be other all-stars available do you guys think Blazers should go all in? Like maby Markkanen, Morant or Trae Young?
We should totally get Zion. Big men stay healthy and excel here!
if pelicans land cooper or ace and we’re in the maluach range would they trade zion for jerami and maluach? maybe another first, their rotation would be dejounte murphy herb coop/ace missi alvarado cj hawkins jerami maluach. if zion doesn’t play we’re still great, if he does we’re amazing. imagine new orleans is the problem and we can unlock him
Let's hope Portland doesn't just trade for a big name. Trade for someone who is good and dependable
Get Kenny lofton jr
Would be a big L if Zion doesn't pan out and we end up wasting several assets to get him.
I truly believe that someone in management (cough…Bert Kolde…cough) really likes Simons and that Scoot will be traded because, well…they cannot coexist.
Zion has said he can play every game. It’s the pelicans that want to sit him.
With our upcoming contracts that will be expiring it’ll be busy no matter what:
2025 FA:
Dalano Banton (unrestricted)
Bryce McGowens (restricted)
Justin Minaya (restricted)
Jabari Walker (restricted)
2026 FA:
Deandre Ayton (unrestricted)
Sidy Cissoko (unrestricted)
Duop Reath (restricted)
Rayan Rupert (restricted)
Anfernee Simons (unrestricted)
Matisse Thybulle (unrestricted)
Robert Williams III (unrestricted)
2028 FA: Jerami Grant (unrestricted; Blazers have bird rights)
I remember the Celtics saying they liked what Banton showed when he got to the Blazers and had some playing time. If he’s at minimum I could see the Celtics getting him. If I’m him, I’d choose them
I want ace Bailey sooo badddd
I thought about this quite a bit, not that Zion is someone I would necessarily want, but if the Blazers were to make an offer, how far/much would they offer for him.
If I am armchair GM'ing this, I think the most I'd consider is Ayton, this year's first (if not in the top 4) and a future first.
Certainly would rather Grant be the big $$$ heading out, but the I would think the Pels would want to save some money in the future, hence Ayton being the guy that should go.
In this scenario, I think Ant would become very important for the Blazers to keep long term for his shooting/playmaking ability.
Sicko Blazers fans are going to LOVE this….they're going to run it back and put their money on Scoot being the playoff PG they need to have a complete lineup and just stick with drafting BPA if they dont move up. If anything I've learned from paying super close attention the last several years with the NBA its that GMs rarely admit they made a mistake in a high cost asset. They will double, triple, sometimes even quadruple down on that player(see CJ McCollum).
Over 5 seasons, Zion has averaged 37 games per year. No thanks, pick another star or potential star to target.
There is no way we should bring KD or zion !!! We don't need problem children here. We are trying to build a team not bring in a big three that will fail! Look at Phoenix as a model of what not to do! I would look at OKC as a model. Let's see how the draft treats us. Stick with the youth movement.
