Nothing happened when the Leafs lost to Montreal. They went 8-1-1 against them in the regular season, then went up 3-1 in the series. So they needed one more win after going 11-2-1 against Montreal that year and couldn't get the job done. This was before they had any NMCs and nothing changed, not even the coach or GM. Losing to Ottawa will change nothing.
I don't see why they can't suspend players for like, 1 game and 1 period. "They must sit out the first period of the 2nd game." Sure it's a bit silly, but it's totally doable.
I think that if Montreal wins tonight then they could make the playoffs round 1 to face off against the Capitals please
