Michael Porter Jr. on what’s changed since the Nuggets won a title: “I just think that the league has spread out so evenly. There’s so many good teams across the league. That playoffs that we won that championship, there wasn’t that much of a struggle throughout the playoffs.”

  1. You can point out both the nuggets and bucks had somewhat of a nerfed path to their championships without discrediting them.

People are way too sensitive about that getting pointed out.

  2. Yeah the 48-win Kings were the 3 seed that year, the CTE Grizz were the 2 seed, and the Heat did Denver the favor of taking out all of the tough competition in the East

  3. I do wonder if Boston would’ve given Denver more trouble than Miami in the Finals if they managed to compete the comeback in the ECF, but if you wanna win a series, you can’t go down 3-0.

  4. He is right, inexperienced Wolves team, KD Suns, Lakers and 8th seed Heat. Lakers were probably the strongest team they faced.

  5. Honestly a valid answer. People think the nuggets declining, and it may or may not be true, but the rest of the league, especially the west has gotten so much better

  6. Nuggets fans about to argue with their own player about this one 😂 not even MPJ is denying it

  7. NBA has probably been the most balanced it has in years but the west was a literal shootout east I expect either Celtics cavs or bucks west it’s anyone’s game depending on how they feel those nights I’m excited honestly to see what happens

  8. The post All Star Lakers were legitimately  good along with the last year Lakers, Denver just fsced them, ubdeniably had Denver lost to the Lakers in the WCF, thwy would have likwly been the 2023 NBA champions.

And had Denver not botch the Spurs Game where they didnt get the 1 seed, Lakers would decinitely have dispatched the 2024 Thunders quite easily.

  9. the nuggets woulda been in the finals last year if they didnt chase the 1 seed. the dudes were gassed by game 7. They probably lose to the Cs but its not like this team is bad.

  10. The stars aligned that year for a clean and healthy playoff run, injuries to other teams helped a ton

  11. I’m really mystified why the league came out with the new CBA. The only people it really benefits are the owners.

Once a team goes into a certain situation with the cap, they are completely powerless on how to change their outcome.

  12. Luck plays a big part in just about everything.

Was the Nuggets run easy? Absolutely

Does that make their title mean less? Absolutely not

  13. The nuggets had a 3.3 Net Rating in their championship year and they have a 3.8 this season. The league was just really weak that year and teams got better while they stagnated

  14. They were genuinely terrifying that year with all the elite role players surrounding Joker. What happened since is Nuggets have regressed to avoid the second apron, MPJ/Jamal haven’t stepped up and the rest of the league progressed.

  15. I think that’s valid. As a warriors fan, I don’t think our team hasnt really declined that much since the 22 season if anything over the past 3 years. Obviously differences here and there but the league and the West is just insane now.

  16. people forgetting the amount of injuries the nuggies have dealt with this year. when they are at full strength they are still as good as anyone.

  17. This MF’s memory is so bad that he doesn’t remember playing against the Lebron & Luka Lakers this year? They matched up in February

  18. I believe MPJ was referring to how dominant they were in that playoff run.  Seeding aside, the ’22-’23 Nuggets eliminated Ant, KAT, KD, Booker, Lebron, AD, Bam, and Playoff Jimmy.

They did this while many called them the weakest #1 seed in Western Conference history… and most NBA pundits picked them to lose to the Suns and Lakers.

  19. They had one of the easiest paths of all time thanks to us fumbling the ECF.

The total # of the seeds they faced was 1 short of being the highest possible number a team can face on route to a Title if memory serves.
