  1. Caps expectations have to be ECF at minimum. They will be better next year though. Next year they won't have Eller and Mangiapane but they likely add Cristall and Miroshnichenko and Protas. Leonard will be better. Ovechkin has already said he will be back next year. The defense is all under contract to return as is the top 6 and the most of the bottom 6. Both goalies are returning. There really shouldn't be a drop off since they're running almost the same roster with the hope their prospects take another step forward.

  2. It isn't luck, they revamped their medical staff. They led the league perennially in man games lost due to injury the last couple seasons.

  3. Re: Ovi

He said that he planned to retire after his current contract ends after next season. Alex has said this for years. Retire from the NHL and go home to Moscow. Alex started at Moscow Dynamo playing pro at 16!

Ovechkin does not want to degrade in the NHL. He can go home, get paid well, and be treated like a national hero. Ovi also has two young sons as well. Raise them back in Russia,

  4. Maybe I’m wrong but I think becoming a habs fan with Steve dangle in 2021 was one of the better things he done in a while… time to bring that show back!

Keep doubting remember how that drove the habs in 2021, keep doubting, we’re not suppose to be here, we’re not good, keep counting them out!

Why not us? Why not now!

  5. WSH blew their load on the Ovi goal chase. MTL has (as mentioned) more playoff experience. Montembault has looked sharp down the stretch. Habs at home in six.

  6. What about the Caps playoff experience being a factor? A good deal of the Caps roster has Cup winning experience and not just reaching the Cup Final final because of Carey Price. OV, Wilson, Carlson, Eller, Beauvillier has good playoff experience, Lindgren got a taste and will be better for it, LT has 4 games of playoff experience, while Montembeault has none. Let us not all forget CMM/Protas have won at the Calder Cup level with the Hershey Bears. I have to say, besides the 894 chase, the Caps did not want that President's Trophy as they knew it just adds more pressure to trying to win the Cup.

  7. the habs fans are the most overwhelming on the internet, extremely optimistic but delusional. hear me out! the only move that can save Montreal in this series is: MSL boldly replaces Slaf with Demidov in the 1st line and trusts the kid with everything. he's hot, he is special, and he will deliver points like no one else. but, since MLT is a coward coach he will never do that, so most you can hope for in that series is 2 wins at the Bell Centre.

  8. habs in 6! Mtl has been playing stressed hockey the last month or so, now they are playing with house money. If they play too safe, they'll lose. But I think with the weight lifted off their shoulders of making the playoffs, they should fly out there knowing that these opportunities don't come around every year.

  9. Habs have the chance to have the best center, defenseman and goalie in the series. They could definitely pull an upset if all three perform lights out.
