  1. This team is really hard to watch sometimes. I’m getting serious 2024 deja vu.

  2. I’ll be sacrificing a Maple Leafs win for a Jays win tonight. No further comments at this time.

  3. Not to let them off the hook. To get where they want to go, they have to hit good pitching, but the starting pitching they’ve gone up against this past week is insane.

I don’t remember the last time they’ve gone through a gauntlet like that. At least the guy they’re going up against today has a 6 ERA. It’s not like he’s ever done anything special against this lineup….

  4. In Yesterday’s Pre-Game thread, /u/princessluni and /u/queenluni had a question on our position player group.

    >are the Jays some of the shortest position players by team average or are we being fooled by the odd giant on other teams?

After going through baseball reference, I have figured out that the Jays are indeed “manlets”.

We’re the 2nd shortest team in the league averaging 70.86 inches, only just slightly taller than the shortest team, the Milwaukee Brewers, who stand at a measly 70.79 inches, a slight 0.07 inches shorter than the Jays. The Jays don’t have too many shorties, but Kirk, Straw and Schneider “weighed” us down, and we didn’t have anyone that tall, with Springer being our highest at only 73 inches (6-1).

When Varsho comes back we could easily leapfrog (probably wrong choice of wording) the Brewers and claim the bottom spot

The average team sits at around 72.2 inches tall, and the tallest organizations are the Rockies, the Padres, and the Nats, who stand at 73.47 inches, 73.29 inches, and 73.07 inches respectively.

Do not take anything else out of this analysis, I wondered if there is a correlation between height and ISO, but the R^2 is a clean 0 on that chart haha.

Either way, conclusion is that the Toronto Blue Jays are manlets.

  5. I missed last night’s game because I went to see SINNERS – after seeing the boxscore and catching the 30, I feel quite secure in my decision 🙃 (Great movie, btw).

Tonight will be a better game. I can feel it…
