St. Louis Cardinals Postgame: Mikolas Shines But Bullpen Blows It AGAIN

Matt Rocchio and Brenden Schaeffer break down Wednesday’s game between the Cardinals and Braves.

Miles Mikolas gave the Cards his best stuff of the season but the St. Louis lineup didn’t do enough against a mediocre opposing starter, and the Cardinals bullpen ran into trouble late…. Agan.

  1. You are seeing what some of us have been describing as the Cards being overly analytics driven. Mo build a system that requires the manager to do specific things in specific scenarios, it doesn’t matter what he’s feeling as a manger…and I think that’s the “philosophical” difference Shildt/Mo had. Fernandez has been selected by Mo for that specific high leverage role and Oli will use him until Mo removes him from that role. Mo managers the dugout and development programs from the FO and it’s destroyed the club from the senior team all the way down through the minors.
