Kmet is kill
ok I’m not mad anymore
Sell all Kmet stock ASAP
Laporta is one of the best TEs in the league and had 60 receptions for around 750 yards last year. That’s assuming Loveland actually becomes as good as Laporta. Is that really worth #10 overall?
Not a knock on Loveland, I’m sure he’s very good. But drafting TE this early is almost never worth it
More proof this is Johnson’s pick.
Edit: I don’t mean this as a bad thing. I just see a lot of people blaming Poles. He is obviously trusting his head coach.
I wanted Ben Johnson so bad. Let him cook
Shock, head coach knows more about football than the big brains in this sub crying about it.
Two things can be true at the same time:
-This is a luxury pick
-Our offense is now fucking stacked with weapons in the passing game
I hope he is a lot better than LaPorta.
I feel like we’re all gonna love this guy before week 2 ends
I just want to know where Kmet fits into this. I’m okay with eating my words if it works out, but I just feel like after Poles said things were going to get wild, it would be a position of need or the trade up that we heard non-stop about. I’m glad Ben got his guy, I just felt there was other options
Hernandez and Gronk (before the murders)
Kmet’s contract has no guaranteed money after 2025. New coaches, let’s see what they can get out of both tight ends.
If we were getting Loveland at 34th overall like LaPorta was taken, it would be a lot more palatable.
I’m not even particularly mad at Poles about it, just annoyed that the draft was so bad we had to settle for a 2nd-round talent with our 10th overall.
Look how many TE’s have been picked in the top 10 the last 20 years. Super rare. It’s a terrible luxury pick in a low value position
I get the pick, I just wish we didn’t take a TE that high.
The issue is they drafted LaPorta in the second round. We just used a top ten pick on one.
Man why do the bears hate kmet?
I don’t mind this much. To everyone saying it was a bad pick, who should we have taken, and who would have traded up?
I wish we had gotten Grant from Michigan
No one knows shit. If you did, you wouldn’t be arguing on the internet. He might be Travis Kelce 2.0, he better be at 10 overall, or Shaheen 2.0 or somewhere inbetween.
Let the kool-aid flow, I’m thirsty!!
Kmet and Loveland can both get 600 yards receiving as tight ends
Detroit ran something like 50% of their plays from 12-personnel so it makes sense that Johnson would be looking for another TE. Taking one at 10 seems like a luxury pick to me though TBH.
With Banks off the board the board totally opened up where TE makes sense. He is not really a replacement for Kmet, he is a compliment to him. Starting 11 includes him, Kmet, Moore, and Rome. It is a dangerous combo and is all about threatening run even when passing.
Nice 300 yard season coming up
Okay so he’ll have a great rookie year and then disappear? Got it, so glad we used the 10th pick on him.
Life long Michigan fan here. I know I’m biased, but Loveland is a guy FR
Ben Johnson knows what he wants for his offense and for his players. Right before LaPorta showed up on the Lions they traded Hockenson, who is clearly a starter in this league, but LaPorta has outproduced him given what Johnson is looking for within his offense. Between that and there not being an outstanding player at 10 that you know won’t be there in the second round for the needs we have? I feel it was decent
Bears fans: “I trust BJ”
This is cut and dry a BJ pick and your GM gave your guy his pick of what litter was left at 10. Let’s see what happens round 2-3.
Look i didn’t want to draft a TE at 10 either but without a trade down prospect and basically every blue chip gone, it was a crapshoot. I think letting your new head coach take his pick is a good idea.
Hampton is gone which sucks, but I still think we’re gonna get a solid RB round 2 and some depth in our lines.
The upside for Loveland is very encouraging. At first, I was surprised at the pick, but now feel we got the best tight end in the draft.
So a low budget Sam LaPorta with the 10th pick. Awful use of pick, horrible value, & a reach considering they have the worst edge rushing in the league. The only good thing about this is that my Cam Skattebo dream is still alive
I’ve preferred Loveland to Warren for a while now. I still feel like he was maybe taken 5-10 picks earlier than warranted but I like the fit and we can see that few teams wanted to trade up, so sometimes that’s the way it goes. With the early run on OLs, this pick feels right.
Looking forward to day 2. Hoping for Henderson, Ersery or Ezreiruaku at 39/41.
Here is my issue with this. Loveland has a hidden talent and can do uncanny impressions. He can do an amazing Sam LaPorta. This brings up concerns that Ben Johnson thinks he is actually drafting Sam LaPorta.
Jahmyr Gibbs was universally panned as a pick.
Offensive Tackle.
Skill position first round every year leads us to be dogshit.
If we can’t block for Caleb having the best tight end on the planet doesn’t mean shit.

And who did Warren remind him of?
He will elevate the 12 man personnel

Judkins and OL/DL next
I would’ve said the same thing
