Mel Kiper Jr. sounds personally offended the Steelers passed on Shedeur Sanders

Dude was whining so much you’d think he lost money betting we’d pick him at 21
*Who in the hell is Mel Kiper, anyways?*
That phucker hasn’t predicted right on anybody since like 2002
He’s from Baltimore I would be worried if he was happy with our pick
I am concerned about the QB position heading into next year but to be that upset they took Harmon over Sanders is insane.
Harmon is about as perfect of a fit for our defense at arguably our second biggest need on the team. And the value at 21 is too good to pass up.
The value between Sanders and Milroe/Shough/Howard/McCord is not as big as the value difference of Harmon and any day 2 DT available.
Mel kipers hair is crazy
His first mock had us taking Harmon. What changed?
Kiper being a Ravens fan just wanted to see the Steelers waste a 1st-round pick on Sanders. (half /s)
I mean, Kiper’s not wrong that Sanders may be a solid and generally effective QB someday, but taking Derrick Harmon was the much smarter thing the Steelers could do with pick 21. The steelers have a need at DL and Harmon seems to fill that need extremely well.
Sure, they have a hole at QB too, but Sanders is not the caliber of player to fill that hole as a 1st round pick. Maybe Sanders ends up excelling in the league, but EXPECTING his to do that would be a 1st round reach. The Steelers are better off finding a short-term QB solution now and then waiting until next season to fill that hole long-term.
Mel is buddies with some of these dudes agents and absolutely goes on tv and screams positively about them
Article states:
> Kiper Jr. has every right to feel offended
What?!
Article also states:
> Maybe these draft experts and analysts don’t know everything after all.
Got that part right, at least. Geez.
If he whining then we made the correct pick.
I don’t like Sanders much, but I will admit he’s not a bad prospect. I just think he’s more day 2 than day 1. Same went for Dart though. Idk if you guys saw the video of the Sanders draft party or not… but that shit rubbed me the wrong way. The Sanders family just come off as too entitled for me
I thought Mel was supposed to quit doing this after Jimmy Clausen sucked?
Kiper actually doesn’t have a reason to be offended. What an insane take. He thinks a guy should have gone, he didn’t, move on and grow up. Maybe use this as a sign to reevaluate the player?
Oh sorry that’s using logic
the disconnect between who the national media *thought* we should’ve drafted vs steelers fans *knowing* the position(s) we needed to draft the most is so annoyingly stupid.
It’s funny cause he was one of the only talking heads to have him rated so high. At time of the pick the espn app had Harmon as the second best available and sanders was maybe the 18th best available
Luckily for Mel, no one watches ESPN’s coverage.
He can be pissy all he wants. I’m gonna go ahead and trust all 32 NFL GMs that say he’s not a 1st round pick. This just reminds me of him freaking out over Jimmy Clausen falling years ago.
How dare you!
This sub is funny sometimes. Like we all saw the Ravens run all over us last year in the playoffs and now you are upset we took someone to help stop the run? Harmon is one of the top in the draft and someone we desperately need.
Sanders is so overrated it is painful. If you guys think Rogers is a headcase (which I agree, he is) then what do you think of this dude? He already has a brand, has a Manziel ass celebration, has a rap career, has only played for his daddy and has been handed pretty much everything he has ever got. No idea how anyone thinks that he would be the pick. He is not a Steeler. No clue how this sub became obsessed with him in the past week.

I would rather not have Loudermilk in a starting position but that’s just me
When was the last time Kiper was correct
Its almost like Kiper doesnt understand how to evaluate talent.
Piper is mad because it makes him look stupid. If you look at his actual draft pick record he is the same as everyone else. What’s worse is some of his most highly talked about players he has championed have been straight cheeks in the NFL since the shift to the high power offense sans 2017.
Who the hell cares what Mel Kiper thinks.
Anyone know how he reacted when NYG traded up and took Dart, not Sanders?
No coaching staff wants coach prime in their ear all season like a little league parent wanting to know if their kid is gonna play…
Kiper deserves a lot of credit for basically inventing the job of “draft expert,” but he should have retired a decade ago. He gets fixated on guys then gets pissy when everyone disagrees. It’s rare that he’s proven right.
All he talked about all night was Sanders and he didn’t even get picked. There were lots of other great players who deserved more attention who were picked.
Unless the QB is an actual upgrade over Mason in 2025, not longterm but as a rookie, then there is no argument for taking them now vs waiting til next year. How many high end QB prospects, which Sanders clearly is not, are better than a good veteran backup like Mason as a rookie? Less than half?
Theres really no argument for taking a QB when next year the class will likely be better and we have way more draft capital. The argument that we don’t have a QB signed right now so we’re going to draft whoever the fuck is there at 21 is so dumb.
