Have a Chicago friend visiting so we came to the game. I guess less embarrassing than going to Cellular One Field?? It’s an odd mix of fans. Stomper is here and he looks miserable. Doesn’t have his Chevy Chevron car. And has no rhythm.
The infield batter’s box looks like a shitty Hydrox cookie with odd colors. Beer is $17! 🥴
Cara didn’t come with the team. Lots a weird Giants fans. Ballpark is half empty. Tickets were $30 and normally 80.
Meh – I feel dirty.

ETA: Guaranteed Rate Field not US Cellular
Fisher massively miscalculated that it’s not just about baseball. The setting and the culture matter. He gave up both and on purpose.
Fisher has always been the problem though. I don’t know why my fellow Oakland fans only started caring and protesting in 2022. We should have been doing this in the later part of the 2000s and most definitely after the 2014 team. We accepted the “small market” mentality fed to us by ownership in those decades but we were too lazy to realize the East Bay is not a small market. Never was.
That looks a lot more than half empty. Thats the Friday crowd? I swear someone on here was telling me that whole series was sold out. And I was telling them that I just looked and there are *tons* of unsold seats.
Manfred may not care but it’s an embarrassing look – 1 MLB team playing in a spring training facility and another MLB team playing in a AAA stadium. Wait until the media from the Yankees, Red Sox, Dodgers come through West Sacramento – it should make the comments from the Cubs and Mets look tame.
I didn’t expect Kara back with the team after the last game in Oakland. That to me seemed like a definitive sign off.

I’m from the area. Everyone I know, and I was so excited to have MLB here. We planned on going to so many games, possibly getting season tickets. But leading up to the season, the ticket prices were so beyond affordable that it just killed our spirit. Now that the season has started, it looks like tickets are available and affordable, but everyone enthusiasm is gone. I blame whatever mechanism made it seem impossible to get a ticket when we first got the news. I went to see the As vs Dads, and it was the time of my life.
