[Jeremy Fowler] The #Jaguars are not picking up the fifth-year option for linebacker Devin Lloyd, per source. He is now set to hit 2026 free agency. Lloyd was productive last season with 113 tackles, two sacks, one interception and four pass deflections.

  1. Prove it year for Lloyd. But I think he gets a second contract. The 5th year option would’ve made Lloyd the 6th highest paid LB.

  2. I really hope Campanile utilizes Lloyd more as a blitzer. He had 7 sacks his last season at Utah and it feels like our DCs never found the right way to use him. I do think it took longer than anyone anticipated for him to get acclimated to the speed of the NFL but he seems to be making strides. I would love to see him prove it this year with more sacks in a new system and resign on a friendly-ish team deal next year.

  3. I think this says more about how expensive a LB 5th year option is than his value to us. Foye is pretty expensive for his age so my guess is that Kiser is to replace him / Muma and we’ll extend Lloyd to lead the group. Just a guess though

  4. I don’t think anyone expected him to get the 5th year option. Need to see how he gels with the new staff, and the option is way too high a price

  5. I predict they’ll just extend him before the season starts, it’s cheaper than the option

  6. This is not unexpected. See how he meshes with the new system and extend him for less AAV than the option if all goes well, send him to UFA if it doesn’t and receive a comp pick in return

  7. He made some improvements last year, but i hope our new DC can get him to stop thinking and play fast and aggressive. So often he seems lost and hesitant. He’s so damn talented and a good dude, hope he makes us have to pay him
