So relieved to hear confirmation of them raising the floor, especially by two feet!
Looks like they know exactly what they want to do.
Ryan Smith, by the way – when you look at other owners around *both* leagues, you realize how lucky we are not to have a psychopath at the helm. He’s quirky, sure, but I think he genuinely wants to succeed and is keeping smart people around him for both leagues to succeed at.
Looks like a mammoth of a project.
It was never clear from the written descriptions how the renovations would work for both hockey and basketball. The video was great. And amazing work from the architects to figure out how to renovate the building for both sports while maintaining high capacity.
I admit I am an outsider seeing this. But I must say this looks like an amazing renovation for Delta Center. If SEG was not going to build a completely new arena, this is the next best thing.
I really hope other teams and cities follow suit in such plans for innovative retractable seating and adjustable sightlines. Examples… a new Madison Square Garden when the upcoming “new Pennsylvania Station” is built. Should Arizona get Coyotes 2.0 and a new joint arena be built in Phoenix for both them and the Suns… I believe Dallas already has this at American Airlines Center, not sure if it is the first in pro sports to have it.
This is a big deal for Utah and this is a great vision in overhauling Delta Center. The previous renovation when it was just the Jazz as the main tenant was a nice upgrade. But now, a much bigger change for the arena and having its lifespan extended. Hopefully I can visit for a game by the time the renovation is complete.
