With the NHL Draft Lottery on Monday, here are the Ducks lottery odds

  1. **Why we wouldn’t be able to pick 4th to 7th:**

To pick 4th through 7th, the Ducks would need a lottery outcome where teams ranked below them (e.g., 9th to 12th) win the lotteries and push them up slightly, but not enough to reach 3rd, and not so little that they stay at 8th or lower.

However because of the NHL’s rule that teams can only move up 10 spots, this means that only teams ranked 1st to 11th can jump to 1st, and 1st to 12th to 2nd. If a team like the 12th-ranked team wins the first draw, they’d jump to 2nd, and if another lower team (e.g., 13th) wins the second, they’d jump to 3rd, pushing the Ducks to 3rd at highest. Any other scenario where lower teams don’t win enough lotteries keeps the Ducks at 8th or lower (9th or 10th).

There’s no combination where we are pushed exactly to 4th, 5th, 6th, or 7th, as the lottery structure and our starting position don’t allow for those specific jumps.

TLDR: Due to the league’s rule that no team can move up more than 10 spots, and math

  2. It would be hilarious since its our worst odds in a few years if we’d win. But I’m just assuming we’ve got the 8th.

  3. So we can still win the 1OA pick? YES this is the year we finally pick first in a “weak” class haha

Since we’re likely picking around 8th, I haven’t been paying attention to who’s who, what are some names (and position) I should be expecting for our pick?

  4. Lmao imagine we finally get a 1st overall draft pick for the 1st time in Ducks history. I’d say we’ll probably land 7th.
