Trump’s tariffs may sink the Vegas A’s project for us…

  1. The $380M of government funding does not come from a tourism tax and is not dependent on future tourism

  2. Yeah, Vegas locals can’t read. Even if they could, they wouldn’t care about this. They will live in the red if they can live on the idea of more money coming down the line. FJF

  3. If only Oakland had a mayor and council that didn’t give up on the A’s and wash their hands entirely of the situation on April 20, 2023.

There’s STILL a chance, and there’s value to keeping our name out there and being aggressive and showing the city is still ready to do a deal with MLB. But as usual nothing is being said or done. I get so fucking depressed every time I visit San Diego or Sacramento, thinking about how transformative this could’ve been for Jack London Square and downtown Oakland–and still could be if somebody had real vision and energy and could build political will.

EDIT: Everyone downvoting me is a tiny part of why Thao did nothing after April ’23. You didn’t hold her accountable or demand she lobby the league and the nationwide press. You just said “MLB hates Oakland boo hoo, FJF” and fuckin gave up. The Kings fanbase acted very differently 12 years ago and it made all the difference.

  4. Portland just secured a site for building a mlb stadium. If the A’s don’t return to Oakland, Portland could be an option?
