UPDATE: Joel Quenneville remains in contention for the Ducks’ head coaching job.

  1. Ignoring everything else, if this is a decision based purely on previous results, it’s his job if he wants it.

Imo we should probably get ready for that too be the case whether we like him or not

  2. It really sucks that Mike Sullivan doesn’t want to come out west. Quenneville unfortunately is probably our best option. I don’t know if Jay Woodcroft was interested or interviewed?

  3. It’s not like he did the sexual assaulting, and he’s paid his dues being not allowed to coach in the league. Let people reform and learn from past mistakes

  4. I can’t ***wait*** to be able to shit all over Verbeek in every thread if his geriatric drama hire doesn’t get the Ducks in contention next season ☺️

  5. When you get a chance to hire your old buddy who no other teams would touch with a ten foot pole, you just gotta do it. Pat Verbeek things.

  6. Our front office is the most tight lipped in the NHL. Who is actually leaking this info?

Or is this just another stating the obvious “he’s in contention”; like the Ducks will be in contention for the playoffs soon? The sun will rise tomorrow. Your bowel movements is in contention of going to the bathroom soon!

  7. Serious, I dont know why no other names are leaking out but guys know Q is getting a second interview? Hate to say it, but this sounds like its a done deal.

  8. If he’s remorseful and wants to redeem himself, fine. But why does it have to be at the NHL level?

  9. I avoided the Chicago story entirely because it is too disgusting. Now it’s unnecessarily front and center for my team. 🤢.

  10. It could just be a meeting. It also could be there’s things we simply just don’t know. Do I like it? Not really but mostly because there’s better options out there. I’d prefer Sullivan. And as others have stated, Carle. But we don’t know if they’re even interested. I guess we’ll see where this goes.

  11. I would be fine with it, elated even – IF and a huge IF given he already had the chance – he makes different comments about it this time. Apologize, make it clear that winning isn’t more important than someone’s life and the law. Express regret about all of it, shed light on some of the “work” he’s done to get back to the point the NHL allowed to him to be rehired.

I don’t think any of that would happen, unfortunately. He would deserve all the scrutiny whatever NHL media could throw at him but it has been and would be all deflected.

It would be really hard for me to cheer for Joel and “his” Ducks if he didn’t do all of those things. In my fantasy if he’s hired, a bunch of us go to the first home game, cheer for the players, boo the hell out of Joel, and then leave before puck drop.

  12. I guess I just don’t get why anyone would **NEED** one particular coach. Coaching is the least understood part of hockey as evidenced by the fresh graves of every Jack Adams winner or runner up. Why then would you go and get a coach who comes with baggage, when coach selection is pretty much a crap shoot anyway? Pretty much how I felt about Babcock.
