The Kentucky Wildcats are looking to wrap up their roster as players arrive to campus in the coming weeks. One question that is still swirling around the BBN and the national college basketball media is the rehab and availability of top transfer forward Jayden Quaintance.
Mark Pope addressed that question and gave a good update about Quaintance in a conversation with Jon Rothstein on Wednesday.
“He’s been incredibly diligent about his rehab,” Pope said. “He’s doing some incredible doctors, and we’re working really hard to make this transition of care, this continuity of care, is going to be really important for him, but he’s going to race back and get healthy and strong as soon as he can. And he’ll be a big part of our deal.”
Pope continued:
“The one thing about him is we are, when I say full rush, we’re going to rush back to 100% complete health. And so, you know, we’re thinking, we’re optimistic that we’re going to have really, really good results in the fall. We’ll see how that goes. But you know, we’re going to rush him back to get to 100% healthy before we roll him out on the floor.”
Heading into next season Quaintance is going to be a huge part of the rotation if the Cats hope to have a Final Four roster as many think they do.
It’s good to hear that the UK staff is doing all they can to make sure he is ready for the start of the season. Let’s hope it continues to trend in that direction.
For Kentucky fans curious about Jayden Quaintance in short: he is a unicorn talent.
At just 17 years old (!), he’s one of the best defensive prospects I’ve ever evaluated — he sits at the table with some of the best underclassmen defensive prospects over the years.
