D-backs vs. Mets Game Highlights (5/1/25) | MLB Highlights | Arizona Diamondbacks
The Mets play the rubber game of their three game series against the Diamondbacks. Hey, hey, hey, it’s the first of May and the Mets come into the month tied for the best record in baseball with the Dodgers at 21 and 10. But I think it’s been a huge part of that 1.26 a through his first five starts hasn’t got enough innings, but if he did have enough innings, he’d be number two in the national league and earned run average 1.26. Just horrific Corbin Carroll set to lead off the diamond back to look for a series win here at Citi field. 2 to 1 is lifted out to short left Brandon Nimmo coming in long way to go and he won’t be able to get there. Corbin’s got his first base hit in this series, a leadoff single back after an alleged night off last night, Geraldo Perdomo struck him out with the last two starts. The opposition is zero for 17 against the fork, 0 to 1 so far today goes carroll the throw to second base to continues to shine six out of 12. Now he’s thrown out this year, a perfect strike to Lin in the second half strikes out back to back strikeouts for and in the stealing for Torrez, the Diamondbacks have done in the first pitcher stats on zack Gallen don’t think we saw these numbers coming one in four in six starts in, er, a of 5.5. Big reason is he’s not pitching well with runners in scoring position. So when other teams have a chance, he’s not limiting the damage and there are two men away. It’s one on the ground and is doing everything to get on base. He walk more. He’s taking the pitch the other way with the opposite field hits base runner with two out for Jesse Winker. Here’s his payoff that is strike three called, got him looking, the inning is over and the Mets get a hit and strand one 181 and four homers is zero for four in the opener Tuesday but was robbed. You’ll recall of at least one hit on that sensational catch by Taylor swing and a miss got him with a third strike out for a 123 top of the second already lasted far longer in this game than the last time he pitched at Citi Field last May six pitches and had to leave the game with a hamstring injury that kept him out for a month. Curveball outside ball, four draws a two out walk to be doing that will bring up mcneil 5 to 15 in four games this year and he hangs this up in right center in the gap. Thomas go get it and he gets gallen out of the second inning that looked like he was headed for trouble but look at Alec Thomas, she and be Thomas who just made that Tori catch in right center starts off in the third against Senga who has set down five in a row. Alec rolls it into right field. A base hit would start to the third against Senga chance. Now for Tim to zero for eight in the series swing and a miss high cutter in the fourth strikeout for changing eye levels through a bunch of different pitches there to and struck him out one on one out top of the third. Here’s the nine man, Jose herrera switch hitter batting left, swung on a little dinker to right. That’s going to fall for a base hit Thomas rounding second going for third and soto just going to run it back to the infield Herrera. Great piece of hitting, drops it in there. And now there are runners on the corners for Carroll would be a tough to double up. This is a spot where you could really use a strikeout. Struck him 96 on the high fastball second needed a strikeout. He got a strikeout five of them through his first eight outs and he misses low ball four. So the bases are loaded after the four pitch walks his first walk of the afternoon. Big chance coming up for David Smith bases full of Diamondbacks , two outs struck, got him on the fourth balls retired and Sanga leaves the bases loaded six strikeouts this afternoon for Kosa, a leadoff walk issued to Josh Naylor and a Eugenio Suarez coming up, Suarez, it’s a ground ball to third, has it shuttles it over to second for one. A low throw. Mcneil’s throw to first in time. Buckner calls him out Suarez, I don’t think can believe it. They’re going to challenge that. You can tell from up here that he missed that call. The runner out Arizona retains its. It brings up gurriel. He struck out his first time up , swung on. That’s a rip in the right center field line drive base hit Suarez to second and gurriel aboard with a one out single. Alec Thomas had a great at bat. His first time up laid off the fork really well. Got himself into a hitter friendly count and wound up punching a single to right. Let’s see how Senga attacks him. Second time swung on. That’s a rip in the center field base hit Suarez going to be sent around third Taylor’s throw is cut off by mcneil. He throws it away to third the ball pinballs off the netting third base dugout to goes Thomas and it’s one nothing Diamondbacks and a break to boot that time gurriel was dead out at third base and mcneil when he threw the ball, he got gurriel right, like in the shoulder area , the ball deflected great at bat, a cutter out over the plate. And the difference when he’s behind in the count, he can’t throw the fork ball outside a four pitch walk. That’s how the inning began. Bases are loaded for Jose herrera. That’s the third walk issued by Kody fastball. He popped it up infield fly, call the batters out. Handles it two very important out for Sega. Now Corbin Carroll another big out for Sega who after 29 pitches in the third inning has had to throw 22 more in this inning off pitch hit high in the air to left field. Nimmo going back to the track, he’s at the wall, he jumps and he makes the catch. It wasn’t gonna leave the yard but it was at the very top of the wall in left field. Corbin Carroll just missed a grand slam by inches and Nimmo makes a catch with his back against the wall Diamondbacks. Score one but leave him loaded. We just see to lead off the bottom of the fourth. The first time this afternoon. Gallen pitches with the lead. Gallen is trying to make that lead stick. He runs a fastball in there and picks up his third strikeout second time. He’s got a Winker today reaches for it and foul tips it into the mid of Herrera that’s a strikeout and that’s back to back strikeouts for the G man. I love this. You get a run and come right back, punch the first two guys out curveball swing in a down on strikes. And how about that Gallen strikes out the side in order in the fourth. He’s got five. There’s a base on balls for Pavin. He’s aboard a one out walk ahead of Naylor. Naylor gets it in the air hits a fly ball. Soto came in now, breaking back back back. He goes and it’s off the top of the wall and it stays in play. Pavin will stop at third. Naylor just missed a home run and soto badly misjudged that when it went off the top of the wall. Taylor came in and almost made a spectacular save right there. Ma ran in for his 13th appearance of the year. Granik has stranded 10 of his 11 inherited runners this year infield in a Eugenio Suarez. The batter 2nd and 3rd 1 out. Suarez hits a fly ball to center. It’s carrying way out there to the track back pedaling as Taylor will score easily. Naylor’s into third Geno the RB I and it’s two zero. Another sacrifice fly to center. It was two of those in the nine last night. That really was the difference. Josh is into third with two outs. Here is Lourdes Gurriel was struck out in single swing and a little roller slowly hit to the right side, first baseman Alonso’s got it shovels to Kranick covering Kranick effectively does his job. Eight consecutive retired by Zack. So grounded to short and drawn a walk six hits for the Diamondbacks. Just one for the Mets gets this one deep in the gap one. So the first city field home run as a Met, all you have to do is flip the calendar page to the month of May and SOTO goes deep in Flushing and these people who have finally have come to game after game after game in this building get to see his first home run at Citi field as a New York met on the road. That’s one thing finally doing it here at home. Max continues on into the seventh faced five batters retired all five of 15 pitches and here’s the switch hitting geraldo PDO launches one high in the air. It’s carrying out to right field. Geraldo Perdomo has hit a home run in New York and the Diamondbacks get that run right back and that’s what they needed to do. Didn’t capitalize on some situations and just extend the lead. This is a hanging cutter to perdomo that’s his fourth hit. And fourth RB I in this series, a one out homer makes it 3 to 1. Kevin in a pitch for Arizona made his season debut yesterday after missing the first month of the season with shoulder inflammation and now being asked to pitch back to back days top of the batting order for New York as we go to the bottom of the eighth, that’s down 3 to 1. Alonso up right there and he rings up Lindor Kevin Genko with a big strikeout and there’s one away in the game now. Soto who hit his first Citi field home run as a Met in the sixth inning, his fourth of the year, second of the day for one. So he’s broken the dam and the two home runs in the identical spot and back to back at bats. And once again, soto gets the Mets back with a run. He’s starting to zero in same pitch. Same spot. Belty 24th career multi home run game low and away for ball four. The Mets do get the lead on the tying run aboard, Jesse Winker will represent the potential, go ahead run at home plate. Winker slams this one back in the gap. Thomas on the, on the weaker with a double and the Mets on 2nd and 3rd 1. Thomas did not take a great route to that ball was hit better than he thought and beat him over his head for a double that put runners at 2nd and 3rd is zero for three. Today, only one out. This is the Mets first at bat with a runner in scoring position. Today they went 0 to 10 last night swing and a miss got him with a slider. What a great pitch. That was, that was just beautiful. It just disappeared right in the hitting area and it brings up Brandon Nimmo. Well, he had nine RBIs on Monday. Little flair here would probably do the job. 32, locked him up with a fastball strike. Three called what a pitch by stones from the right hander. The Mets strand two in scoring position and we go to the ninth out there for the ninth and Tim to zero for two with a walk leads it off like to get something going here at the bottom of the order. Any way to get an extra run to swings, hits a high fly ball to left. Nimmo going back onto the warning track and now feeling the wall, that ball is gone home run for to his fifth and the D backs claw one back to start the ninth inning. It is now 4 to 2 going and going and carry just deep enough to get over that 358 mark out there the fifth of the year for Tim, the first earned run that Reed Garrett has allowed this season. Carlos Mendoza seen Garrett throw as many pitches as he wants him to. Ty Ad#### will make his season debut for the Mets trying to get the final out here in the top of the ninth. Atco has faced three batters allowed a single a walk and the catcher call loads him up with two out for Eugenio Suarez. Breaking ball popped up. Middle of the infield mcneil with calling and he makes the catch, the shortstop, puts it away and that retires the side on three pitches. Shelby Miller has the first two outs in the bottom of the ninth and the Mets are down to their final out of the day low lead short got a hustle, got him at first and the Diamondbacks have a 42 win. They get the series win at city Field, their first series victory here since 2017 and Shelby Miller gets the final three outs.
Geraldo Perdomo and the Arizona Diamondbacks take on Juan Soto and the New York Mets on May 1, 2025.

Gallen is either a huge hit or miss
A little dinker 😂haven’t heard that one in a minute
Huge series win, hopefully we can take some of this momentum over to Philly and the rest of this tough stretch
Buckner been slacking lol get your shit together blue
Can we please get Jose H a torpedo bat pls with the Sammy Sosa knob
Gallen !!!!! 🤌🏽👍🏽
Perdomo showing off some good pop so far this year
It's either… Carroll, Perdomo, Suarez … Or it's Gurriel, Naylor, Smith.
Some are interchangable but that's typically how this team has performed this year. They have (2) three headed monsters night in and night out. Every other series they all put it together and we've seen that.
Solid Win
Gallen is a Monster against NY! Go snakes!!
We got the pitching to win the world series just like 2001
No Marte and Carroll was off on this game. Not bad of a series win.
LFGM
damn! bitten by the homerun ball again…come on, senga…you 'gots' to do better than this.
Let’s go baby. On to the next team.
SNAKES ALIVE
That’s the curveball Zack hasn’t had all year long so far till this game. Hasn’t had the sharp break like it did today and his control was much better too. The combo was f bad control and no out pitch was killing him. Good to see he still has it. Gotta keep it up. Need consistency
Ahora soto ta haciendo su swin
LETS GO DBACKS, NOW WE GOTTA BEAT THE PHILLIES TMR IN PHILADELPHIA. WITH MARTE BACK TOO 🐍❤️🔥
Zac pitches well in ny.
Vamos Por Más Juan Soto❤❤🇩🇴
