The Edmonton Oilers continue their yearly tradition of defeating the LA Kings | Oilers Update

This is something me and you and obviously you tweet about it but like the start of the series like this seemed inevitable to me like there was nothing about the king I shouldn’t say nothing that would be that would actually be ignorant of me. They have threats and Kempo is obviously someone you’re like oh he could do it like Kempe is good but it’s just like I don’t know eventually they just outsmarted them. They tried to outsmart themselves and they just clearly just screwed it all up. You’ll let me know when JD’s here. Right. Cool. Can you send me? Oh no man. What? I’m good. Okay, you got it. Yeah. Um, my point with all of the stuff we said earlier was not that this isn’t the best version of the Kings or whatever you want to say. My point was it doesn’t effing matter. They do not play hockey the right way. Yeah, they were down by two goals with 10 minutes to go. They had one guy forchecking and four in the neutral zone. And it’s just like you can have all the talent in the world. You can play the most banged up Oilers team with the worst goalie. Pick one. Who cares? If you aren’t going to forche and if you aren’t going to play intense, you’re not beating this Oilers team. That’s how Florida beat us. Yeah, they were very, very good on the forche. Timely special teams and good goalending. Kings had the timely special teams early on. That kind of went away. Didn’t really have good goalending. Although you could argue no one a he’s a VZNA finalist. like no one would have played good there. If your structure is going to be what the Kings is, and if they’re going to continue to do this, and it’s why when they hired Jim Hiller, I said, “This is point blank a mistake.” You can go back episode of the DFO rundown the day they announced they’re removing the interimm tag and he’s the full-time head coach. I said, “Why?” I asked Jason and Frank about it. I said, “If the number one reason they’ve been losing to the Oilers is their style, why are they keeping around a guy who is going to play the exact same?” And during parts during the regular season, they played more uptempo, but then when rubber hit the road, Jim Hiller coached scared. Totally. And even too, we we had a good conversation with Zach on the postgame show yesterday as well of just being like the start of the season was they didn’t have Drew Dowy. Yeah. And it’s not an advantage to lose what was their best defenseman. He’s still a great player, but you can make the most of it. You made the most of it because they played Clark and Spence, and those guys should have been able to take that opportunity. The whole organization should be like, “This is actually a positive in a way, a silver lining in this. We can push these guys. We’ll get to the playoffs. They’ll be battle tested. Spence already played in the postseason. Brand still young, but that’s okay. He can be a six guy.” And they just refuse to play them at all. Mhm. And then, ironically, like I said, they’re the guys who get the goals through yesterday at pivotal moments, too. Like the Clark goal, like Shaw Picker could have probably had it. He did put it he had it was a good shot as well to give him some credit. And obviously Spence gets one at the towards the end of the second period as well to somewhat kill a bit of the Oilers momentum at least like stun the building a little bit and they just refuse to adapt and be like oh these guys can actually play hockey and they’re avail and they’re good to do and Hiller had a quote and it was funny. It was Dennis again who asked him the question of being like will you think about not playing your depth over the summer like do you see this as a mistake and he’s like no which is just mindblowing. Yeah, it is mind-blowing. Like maybe in the moment you don’t want to admit to it, but like you should think about it. Like I think at fourth line to give the Kings the credit that I think those guys deserve, I think they came out and did a relatively decent job when they were given some minutes to play. And like last night they actually played a decently more amount and they were effective. They all set series highs and minutes by the end of the second period. Unbelievable. Imagine if they did have six games and like obviously I’m glad they didn’t because they was one, but it’s just like you had the opportunity to take the series but you just weren’t good enough. JD’s here. Oh, I thought that’s why you gave me a thumbs up. Sorry. Oh, no. He’s pointing at the telly. Ah, well, our monitor’s still broken. What’s up, Nation citizens? For the fourth consecutive year, the Edmonton Oilers have eliminated the Los Angeles Kings in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. With dominant performances from Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and key contributions throughout the lineup, the Oilers once again proved too much for the Kings to handle. Whether it was clutch goals, physical play, or solid goaltending from Stuart Skinner, Edmonton delivered when it mattered most.

This win not only continues the Oilers’ recent playoff dominance over the Kings, but also sets the tone for what they hope will be a deep postseason run. With momentum on their side and the core playing at an elite level, the team looks ready for the next challenge. Stay tuned for more coverage as the Oilers push forward in their pursuit of the Stanley Cup.

  1. No disrespect to LA king fans, but the whole LA v Oilers series is getting really boring, im glad we won but hopefully next season both teams get a new series 1 match up

  2. Kings fan : games 3&4 is why the Kings didn’t win it ! However it’s not why they lost it ! The had an equal opportunity to progress after those . Kings rely %100 on skill/talent and STRUCTURE, the post season is %100 about fitness resilience heart hunger ,attack pond hockey ,passion . The sucky part for us Kings fan , is we almost won on talent and structure, however I never felt it because the previous 3 rounds Edmonton went in a gear the Kings wouldn’t or couldn’t go. And don’t get me wrong Edmonton has talent/skill as well ! Maybe more , maybe less , HOWEVER THEY DONT REKY ON IT !
