Would Kevin Durant Make Sense On The Thunder If They Flame Out?

From the Suns perspective, the Thunder would be an ideal Kevin Durant trade partner. So, why are they only coming in at number four on our KD trade destination rankings? Well, unless they flame out of the playoffs way sooner than anyone expected, this up and cominging contender will be content to keep their mountain of draft picks and young players right where they have them. Even if OKC fails to win the West, Shay, Jaylen Williams, and Chad Homegrren would obviously be off limits, but there’s still plenty of younger players the Suns could use to help them and match salaries. from Isaiah Hartinstein to Kase Wallace to Lou Dort to Aaron Wiggins, plus a ton of draft picks. KD returning home to OKC to contend for titles would be a match made in heaven, especially if the Thunder fall short this year, and they’d be able to keep their current big three intact. But as much as OKC has a great combo of young players and picks to offer in a KD trade, they look like a juggernaut right now, and it would take them flaming out in historic fashion for them to even consider trading for Kevin Durant. Let us know if you think the Thunder could be a dark horse in the KD sweep stakes in the comments.

The Oklahoma City Thunder would be an ideal Kevin Durant trade partner for the Phoenix Suns thanks to their mountain of draft picks, plus young, established role players like Isaiah Hartenstein, Lu Dort, Cason Wallace, Aaron Wiggins and more. Unfortunately, they’d have to flame out of the playoffs earlier than expected to consider pursuing Durant, even if they could still keep Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren, which is why they’re coming in at No. 4 on our KD Trade Destination Rankings.

  1. The Thunder aren't likely to ever trade for or sign KD as a free agent due to the way he left them. Maybe a sign and retire, but I doubt that too.
