Who Wins Game 7? – Stars vs Avalanche | SDP

heading into this. I I like those are like two of my top teams in the in the West, but the Stars are so preposterously deep. Yes. Like, oh, their scoring is unbelievable. But we knew that the question was their defense. Well, the question was their defense. But if Ranton isn’t performing, which he wasn’t, then I think it completely neutralizes the rest of the team because you have no Robertson, too. Well, it’s what And you have no Robertson. And it’s what I was talking about with the Oilers, like uh as long as you keep if your depth performs well and your stars are performing well, but they’re neutralized, it at least opens up your depth. But if the stars aren’t performing well, you’re boned. So you lose you lose Robertson, there’s your top score. You lose your new highest paid player um in Ranton, and he’s still there. He’s just performing like crap. You’re probably not winning the series. He might, you could maybe argue they were lucky to be up 3-2 in the series. Um, Ranton arrives and I know you have Mar. I know you have Devonte. What is How do you shut down the Stars? Well, they didn’t, right? They outscored them, right? And this is uh what a thrill. like what how fortunate the hockey world is that this is going seven. It was 4-3 after the second period. Sorry to everybody else. And and then what did the Colorado Avalanche do in the third? They scored four goals unanswered. And one of them I want to bring up the last two. Like let’s not the dumbest goal I’ve ever seen. The last two are empty. Let’s not sell it like it was four goals on a goalie. But McKinnon has had five goals that he scored and one that Colin Blackwell scored. man. And this I I just you just need to break this down because it goes off of two star players, the second game winner of the series. And it goes over Auter is the tallest tallest goalie in the league. Or uh tied for it. He’s like 66 67. Handsome, beautiful teeth. I’m jealous. Makes me mad. Do you Do you have it there, Jess? Yeah, I was just pulling it He’s pulling it up cuz I want you to see this. This goal in case you missed it cuz you know you’re in the Eastern time zone. You got work in the morning. This is a goal worth looking at. Oh, I watched it like this was a dagger goal because it goes off of your own player. It goes off of three of your own players. Like I Okay, go to the net and good things happen. So McKinnon is making he’s going to the net. Mhm. Right. He’s driving towards the net, but he’s being driven wide, which is good defensive. He’s got one hand on his stick. So then what happens? It’s flung into the slot. Uhhuh. And it’s just Is that Labouchkin, by the way, on him? I believe so. Man, the Star should have done better than that. It’s thrown into the slot. It hits something before hitting something before hitting something and it hits the back of the net and it goes off of Oscar back and and I believe that was Oscar’s front and then I believe it hits Colin Blackwell right after that in the in like the chest. Yeah. And like what would you have done? All five Dallas Stars have surrounded the net like a force field and the puck goes off the man in and it goes off of Blackwell on the other side. McKinnon’s coming down the left side. The puck bounces off Bach and then to uh Blackwell and that’s on the other side of the net at that point. That’s not nice. There’s not a single AB in front of the net. Nope. That’s I mean that’s the hockey gods going. People want to see a seven. Yeah, people want to see game seven. Sorry. Yeah. No, that’s a cur curse goal. Cursed goal. Sends win the game with that last night. Again, you would have to go to Ajax and drag me here. Guys, I have to ask cuz again, like you said, the uh the Blackwell is not the most popular guy in Colorado. A lot of people argue he he cost them game Blackwood. Sorry, not Blackwell. Blackwell, not to be confused with Blackwood, not to be confused with Wedwood. We’ve seen crazy goals. There was 11 last night in the Stars uh ABS game. What does game seven look like? Is it a 2-1 finish or is it more of the highscoring, high adrenaline? Because I feel like sometimes going into game seven, usually, especially in the first period, every team is just kind of feeling each other out and they’re, “Well, we’re not going to do too much. We don’t want to open up too much.” What are you guys expecting from game seven? I’m expecting the last time or what we saw the last time these two teams went to a seven game series. I think they’ve met since this series, but um during the COVID bubble, Colorado’s dead to rights in this series. Do you remember who their starter was who dragged them back into it? Keer, Michael Friaking Hutchinson. Oh, wow. Really? Michael Hutchinson. And it goes to game seven. Now, Hutchinson did not have a good game seven. It was a runand gun slugfest. And with the hat-tick goal to win the series, Joel [ __ ] Kiranta, as they said on Finnish radio. Uh, that’s what I expect. I don’t think this will be a low-scoring game. Okay, Jess, do you agree? You think highscoring, Steve? Yes. I’ll say low scoring. No, I think the ABS win a low scoring. You think the AS win? I think they win 31. Wow. No, 4-1. I’ll add two empty nets. is like a two-1 game through most of it. 4-1 final score. I don’t think you’re holding Dallas to one. It’s going to be hard. I I want Colorado to win because this is the only chance my bracket has of any sort of survival. Some stats from the NHL. The Dallas Stars are competing in a game seven for the fourth consecutive year. A franchise first and the longest streak since the Ducks went five straight years competing in game sevens from 13 to 17. 20 13 to 20. Those Ducks teams were so fun. The Avalanche is set to compete in its 17th game seven all time. Wow. Wow. Their record six and 10. Not bad. Not great. Not that great. Colorado say bad. Colorado has not won a game seven since 2002. Their what? Their streak of six consecutive game seven defeats is tied with the Senators and the Toronto Maple Leafs, both of which are also active. Thank you for that. Well, I would imagine they would be active. No. Well, it could have been like 19 Dicky2 Leaf, you know. So, the Leafs are still on that active. Is Nathan McKinnon are Nathan McKinnon and Kale Mar not clutch? You have to ask the question. You don’t find that interesting? I think that’s really interesting that this team is on. And oh and also Pete Dbor is 8 and0 in in in game sevenar as a losing that I find that a little skewed because Pete Dbor is also the king of the bridesmaid like he was the coach of the Sharks who went to all of those conference finals never broke it through Vegas Golden Knights during their early years where they go to the finals doesn’t break through and now the Dallas Stars who are the king of conference finals and don’t make I think was the Galant was coach Dbor doesn’t have a cup stop in New Jersey Devils go to the Stanley Cup final, loses in the finals. Adam and I are furious. No, I’ I’ve all lost in the finals with the Sharks. Lost in the round one with the Sharks. Lost in round two with the Sharks. Lost in round three with the Sharks. Yeah. What? Then fired. Tell me what I got wrong. And then he doesn’t he hasn’t won a J. takes over for for um Gerard Galant mid-season uh and and literally it was the same season he got fired by the uh the the Sharks, loses in round three, loses in round three, conference final king. Then they missed the playoffs. He gets booted. Cassidy in goes to Dallas. Lost in three. Lost in round three. I thought where what did I get wrong? Did he even win in junior? Uh that’s funny. Won the championship twice with the Rangers in 0203 and 0708. Oh, okay. Kitchener Rangers. That’s right. The dude loves coming in second. Nasam, Cadri, and Nick Spalling on one of those teams. So, like you’re you’re good at winning game sevens, but you got to get over the hump eventually. Yeah. You know, so um I don’t I think this is going to be a fantastic game. Like screaming into the mirror. He coached Toronto great David Clarkson and Mike Richards for the Kitchener Rangers in 2002 2003. Just thought I’d let you know. Wow. Um, anyways, that streak that the ABS have um of not winning game sevens, I think is pretty interesting. But I guess it speaks to them closing out series lower earlier than reaching game sevens. But haven’t needed it. Yeah, they haven’t really needed. You remember game seven Colorado Edmonton from 2022? Uh, no you don’t cuz the ABS swept them. I was going to say I didn’t really. Also, Pete Dbor was the coach of the Devils when we they went to the finals with Kobachchuck and Clark. Wow. Mhm. He has I’ll give him credit. He at least goes deep. He gives you the opportunity. Mhm. You know, just throwing that out there. All right. So, that’ll be fun.

  1. That was a insanely unlucky goal against on Dallas. But the avs were outplaying them by a wide margin for a lot of that game. They hit 2 posts with Otter beat cleanly. You make your own luck.

  2. Ok, so while you all are talking about Pete, how many games, seasons, playoffs, and losses did his buddy Paul have to overcome to become SC champion in Florida? Maybe it is Pete's year. Would love to see Dallas heading up against Florida in the finals!

  3. wait- wasn't that the goal where Steel collects the rebound off MacKinnon's shot and he flings it to the boards only Blackwell is standing there and Steel hits him square in the chest and it ricochets past a lunging Otter into the net?

  4. If not for Oettinger, the Stars would already be playing golf. I DO acknowledge that the Stars are missing their top two guys which makes their results admirable. But, again, Otter is the key. Overall, Colorado has played the more dominant hockey, as they should due to the Stars injuries. This review by the panel shows that their analysis is no better than a panel hosted by the McKenzie bros after drinking a twelvie each. Puck luck is made by effort and execution as BOTH teams have proven.

  5. So I keep seeing/hearing about this dislike for Blackwood but I have no idea where it’s coming from. I watch a lot of podcasts about the nhl and hockey and I never hear anything from the avs base saying let’s put in “wedgewood”. I literally have no idea what you guys are talking about. Blackwood only really had one bad game in the series

  6. Not saying avs will win for sure, too old to be stupid like that. However, touting the depth of Dallas without acknowledging the avs are as deep or deeper just shows either ignorance or unjustified bias. Y’all got bounces in 5 and we got them in 6, that simple. How you can advocate for a team that gives up nearly 50 shots in 2 out of 3 games, and can only win one game by dominating, you guys are dreaming. How anyone can believe Dallas has been the better team, or even the most potentially talented team is a joke.

  7. I'm an Avs fan and I'll say this as unbiased as possible, no player other than Esa Lindell is responsible for this going 7, if not for him Avs sweep this series in 4 scoring both OT winners he blocked

  8. 8:15 You got the part that DeBoer was the head coach of the Knights when they lost the cup final in 2018. It was Gallant. You are so confident you are right when you are wrong. Do better.

  9. The Stars had some terrible puck luck in game 6 huge game from Mikko and Hintz obviously and Otter has been clearly the better goalie. They can’t get dominated on the shot clock like that again though they’ll have to tighten that up tonight.

  10. All sh*t talking aside, this has been a crazy series, as expected. Refs suck for everyone, crazy goals all around, some OT games, the return of Landeskog and him getting a goal, Avs technically being the under dog from the reg season, but the betting favorite because of end of season injuries to Dallas and a rough ending to the season.

This WAS the best series of the 1st round and potentially the entire playoffs.
My hats off to Dallas. We all knew they were better than how they ended the year, but I really thought Avs in 6 for this one. They've played great and the 'DAL over AVS/Deboer over Bednar in the playoffs storyline can potentially continue after ANOTHER game 7 between them, which creates even more drama.

    Gotta love it.
    Great sh*t, right Meroki?
