REACTION: SAN JOSE SHARKS WILL PICK 2ND IN 2025 NHL DRAFT

The San Jose Sharks fall to second in the draft lottery. I’m JD Young of Locked on Sharks and despite having the best odds to win their first overall pick, the Sharks will be picking second in this year’s uh draft at the end of June. um they will still be in a great position to get a great player whether it’s most likely going to be uh Michael Misa or Matthew Schaefer depending on who the Islanders pick, but still um going to be adding some top end talent to what is arguably it is the best prospect pool in the NHL. So disappointing to not get that first pick, but the Sharks still in a great position to add topend talent. Um, as Mike Greer continues to navigate this rebuild, we’ll have a full reaction on your next episode of Locked on Sharks, wherever you get podcasts and of course you can watch on YouTube as well.

Despite having the best odds to win the draft lottery, the San Jose Sharks will pick second behind the New York Islanders. They should have their pick of either Michael Misa or Matthew Schaefer, the two best prospects in the draft.

  1. What do you think about this take:

    While Misa would be great…
Grier should be on a white hot seat to sign quality defense players in summer now that the plan to get Schaefer has crashed hard. Because having the worst defense in the NHL for a 3rd straight year is just not tolerable.

  2. I'm happy with the results. The odds were higher dropping to #3 than #2. Seems like the cream of the crop is between Schafer and Misa so now the decision of who to draft is made easier at pick #2.

  3. JD. So what if the sharks win the draft next year? Let’s say draft Misa this year. What’s the give? We need a #1 dman.
