Issac Howard to free agency?? Quinn Hughes to NJ Devils?! Stanley Cup First Round Review

Welcome to undrafted hockey fan. I am Brad. Today we’re hitting some NHL news and kind of just hitting some of this playoff stuff and there’s a lot of fun stuff. Couple signings as well. So, uh we’re going to be going over a lot of that stuff. Uh and just kind of reviewing nothing too crazy detail, but we are going to go over a some stuff and what’s maybe a little bit of predictions on what the next second round looks like maybe. Let’s just jump right into it. I mean, let’s talk about this. First off, we have Toronto Maple Leafs have beaten the Ottawa Senators in six games. Uh and then the final game was four to two against the Ottawa Ottawa Senators. William William Knander with the empty net goal. Um and Brad to Chuck like he scored his fourth goal of that series and he was leading that series in goals by the way. And uh I think Senators looked okay. I think that the Toronto was a little scared. I had them winning in that fifth game, but of course the the Toronto Maple Leafs got pumped in their own barn four to zero in game five, but came back went back to Ottawa and they beat the Ottawa Center or Toronto beat the Ottawa Centers 4 to2 in said in game six. So I mean, so now we have them versing the Florida Panthers. Um, and by the way, I had Toronto beating Ottawa. I had Tampa beating Florida. That was wrong right there. and and I I’ll review some of my other ones stuff too. Um so that way you can like talk about see like um I’m not doing well on my brackets this year. It is a bummer. Uh is that most most I think most people did like are not doing that great by the way. I think most people had LA beating uh Edmonton Oilers. Um that didn’t happen either. We’ll talk about that later. When it comes to Florida Toronto, I think Florida does it in six. I think Florida can I think they they’re definitely going to pull out a win at least. They’ll probably win every game at home in my opinion, plus one game in Toronto. So, I can think it’s going to be a game in six. Um, and to me, I think it’s just Toronto looks good, but Florida is looking way healthier than I thought they were going to be. I think Matt Chuck was healthier than we thought he was going to be as well. And you have to consider that he missed part of the season, right? Like he was missing the injury. So, to me, I was surprised that he ended up being this healthy. Um, but he’s just they’re using doing they’re utilizing him in a very like smart way. I think he was getting like 13 minutes a night, which is like basically like a third third line role. More like a third line role. Um, and so they’re just using him more smartly than anticipated. He’s putting up great points as well. You finally get uh I mean there’s a lot of stats going in with the uh game elimination games for the Toronto Maple Leafs. I think they were zero and 30 in their last um and 30 zero and 30 in their last power play goals in an in a game in elimination game which is crazy. So now they’re 1 and 31 with Austin Matthews Mner and William William Knander getting uh the point in the power play. Uh Tvarus looks really good this year too. Like it’s overall it’s just like it’s it’s good vibes. I think they’re more playoff ready. Um but it’s Florida man. It’s just Florida. How do you beat Florida, you know? So, I guess we’ll see. It’ll be a great series. I think their first game’s on Sunday, by the way. So, um but that looks really good right there. We also have the Vegas Golden Knights beating the uh Minnesota Wild in six games. Minnesota Wild played so well in that last part last game. They were really uh fighting for it. Ryan Hartman had a really good series as well. Um Jack had his first goal in in the game six and Marx only had two two goals in the series. It was kind of crazy. Um because to me I thought they was going to be like you those are your two best guys right Stone and Eel but it just it’s crazy that to me it took this long for him to really get like started mind they had some assists but like you think they would put up some more points in that sense especially with Eel being one of the like consist runner up you know Marsh winning it the year they won the cup in 2023 was it? Yeah, it was V. It was Colorado, Colorado’s 2022, Vegas 23, 424. So, um, again, to me, I I I thought it was a I thought it was a good series. I thought, and the thing is about Minnesota is they looked good, but then we’re like, it’s it is Vegas, though. I actually had Vegas sweeping. Uh, Minnesota put up a better fight than I thought they were going to, uh, in my opinion. But to me, when it comes to that, like us played well overall, I’d say. Uh, it’s just a bummer for Flurry. I mean, that’s like the that’s the sad sad part. I was like, “Oh, dude, Flurry. Oh, yeah. I forgot he’s retiring, dude.” And so, um, it was I said it was it’s very interesting though because I think it was said the Minnesota Wild in the last eight years have gone to the first round, have lost in the first round or I think it’s like eight or 10 years they have not made it out of the first round. Oh, that is tough. And it’s like one of the worst of any of any cities or anything which is kind of tough. And so I’m I’m curious like I’m actually excited for Minnesota because you gotta remember like they just actually I think Brock Faber’s contract it just is actually gonna be coming up. But mind you they have $14 million in cap space that they can’t use because of the the Zack PZ and Sudter Bios. By the way they they finished the season with $36,000 in cash space. That’s crazy. Um but to me I’m I’m really curious on how they’re going to be able to utilize this money. Uh mind you Carrie is also going to need a new contract. Cap is going up, right? So, they’re gonna free up $14 million in cash space. Um, Brock Favor’s contract does come into play, though. He goes from a, you know, like a an ELC to $8.5 million. So, a lot of that $14 million is going to be freed up is going to be taken already, right? Um, they have $14.7 million. It goes down to 13.6. So, they’re basically getting about $13 million in Cassie Freed up. Mind you, again, about like 8 million of that’s going to Brock Favor. So, we have $5 more million freed up, which is is significant, right? If you think about $5 million, that’s like a around a Zack Heyman level. I think he’s six and a half, right? Just to give you an idea um like of a player that can add or something like that. And then and but Capri off is still under contract next year. So I’m really curious on the way the Minnesota Wild go with this direction. But to me, I think this is this is going to be huge for the Minnesota Wild. Great learning experience for the young kids. Um like you brought Zoom up there, right? You brought Brock Faber as well. um some of the young kids like Baldi looked good like Rossi did as well like Joel Eriken X really showing out to be a star in this in this uh system and like it it was a good it was a good showing by them of course Cara Capri off like you’re like okay what’s going to happen with this guy is he going to get I mean he’s going to get paid what’s going to happen with him are they going to trade him I think they’re ma ranting him next year right because if they don’t if he doesn’t want to sign like at July 1 if he doesn’t sign July 1 that is going to be one of the biggest talking points Right. Um it’s one it’s where’s Mner going to sign? Two uh is Caprias going to resign? There were talks about him wanting to go Chicago. So we’ll see what that happens at. But this isn’t about Minnesota Wild. I’m just I’m I love talking about the Miss Wild in the future. Uh and and all the opportunities. But again, Vegas wins it in four. They win it in Minnesota. Uh and now Vegas will be going on and versing the Edmonton Oilers. So with that, let me scroll up to that. um with the Edmonton Oilers. I I’m curious on what’s going to happen with this because you have two powerhouses that are absolutely I mean they’re going to I think they last time they squared off was 2023. So, um it’ll be interesting to see what happens with them because you have such a high power dynamic but you have such a brutal like offense and defense of Vegas. Um of course Edmonton Oilers will outscore their problems. So, we will see. I think I’d have them going probably Vegas versus Vegas versus Edmonton. It’s got to go seven, right? Like, it’s six or seven, right? It’s not going to be four or five. Um, also, by the way, cracks me up now that uh Cal uh Calvert Pickard is Cal Pickard is an MVP of a game six. Uh he he had an eight 852 save percentage and a uh 29 negative. 29 goals go gold goals save above expected but he won that’s the important part is that he’s winning I think you run Calvin Picker rest series I’m curious on what they do with uh Skinner at the end of this is he is he even if you buy him out is he even worth it like do you is he the second goalie that’s not working with right and and you got to ask yourself is it the scheme or is it the goalies you had Campbell who played really well in uh or in l Toronto played well in Toronto um but with is he is it worth it to buy him out? You have Ste for this year and next year like does do you buy him out? Like I don’t know that that be conversation for the summer. I get but I got to know what a buyout looks like for him because I’m I now now now I’m curious now that I brought it up. Um it would be a million dollars for the next two years. He makes 2.6. Is that Yeah. So it be a million bucks a year. Yeah. He makes 2.6. So not too terrible. Again, you want the million dollars to play with, right? Um, but I think them getting uh getting off uh uh Arbinson’s contract and uh Skinner’s contract. Those I think that’s good. Like $6 million is going to free you up. Those guys just not did not perform well enough in the playoffs. So, um so we have those. So, we have Toronto win beats beats the uh Senators. Florida beats the Lightning. Uh that is awesome. Again, I have the Lightning winning. Uh I had Lightning going all the way to the finals. This totally totally screws on my bracket, but it’s all right. That’s the fun of this, right? And you know what’s crazy? These two two series actually ended up pretty ended pretty quickly. You had Carolina who beat the New New Jersey Devils in five games. So, of course, New Jersey Devils just they had they missing Jack Hughes. You’re missing Jack Hughes. So, of course, you’re going to um it’s going to be tough. You’re lo missing your first line center, right? Even even though Edmonson’s as good as they are, imagine they’re missing McDavid. if Colorado’s missing um McKinnon, if Toronto missing Matthews, like you you need good center depth and I think you know he does a good enough job, but again you lose your first line center, it’s tough. It’s tough on any team, right? Imagine Redskins without Dylan Lark and Montreal without Nick Suzuki like is absolutely crucial for them to have that. It’s not their not their year, but I think they played well. I think Mark they want a little more out of Marstrom. Um but I think he is the goalie so you paid you paid a first round pick for him. So for sure you got to you got to run them and everything. So um a couple other things. So we got uh and then Washington of course beats Montreal. They beat them in five. Gentleman’s sweep. Uh to me it really felt like if you saw the podcast I did with Overtime Hockey Talk. Uh they we talked about how I talked about how Washington felt like they were playing with her food. Like it was like a it was like the lion playing with the mouse. Um and to me like I think Montro put up a good effort. I think Washington didn’t take this the series too seriously. Um, and so we I mean I would say besides the fight between Wilson and Anderson, of course, so Josh Anderson. So to me, I think uh I think it’s like I said, it’ll be interesting to see how Carolina vers Washington goes. I’m curious. I think Washington just have really good vibes. Carolina has consistently lost in the second round pretty handedly. I mean, they lost in the conference finals, too, against I think was it Florida last year or the year before? So to me, I definitely see Washington I not definitely I think Washington takes it. I think Washington’s a little deeper. They got a little more fire, a little more energy, a little more hype with them. I think Logan Thompson is a better goalie than um well Anderson just went out. Anderson was out, right? And then Kachchekov was there too, right? But like Logan Thompson I think is just a better goalie. Um I just like their I like their depth better on Washington. So, I think it goes it goes to, six, seven. I’d say seven. I mean, they’re pretty good teams, too, right? Um, you’re not going to get a sweep. Probably not getting in five, but I think it go it goes to seven. And I got Washington going there. So, u then we have the uh not we do the LA Kings. So, we did now we have Colorado Avalanche versus the Stars. I have the Colorado Avalanche winning in seven um because I I I love the story and it it’s looking like it. We have a game tonight at 8:00. So, I’ll be curious on how that ends up going. Uh, definitely be watching it, of course. But the I definitely see I mean I want I want I’m a Stars fan, right? I Stars are my third third favorite team. Red Wings, Sharks, Stars, they’re the only ones I’m rooting for. But to me, I just thought the story of Atlanta coming back was too good. Um, I’m all about I’m a sucker for a narrative. And honestly, I can see the Netflix doc already of them hoisting the ceiling cup with their captain coming back. He uh you know like the last game he played before this year was um the Stanley Cup finals when they won the cup and then he comes back three years late later over a thousand year days later and then comes back and wins the cup with the team. I mean that’s like Disney magic man. Um I could see that for sure. That’d be huge. So I’m I’m about that. I’m about that. I think that’d be a lot of fun. And so I I am curious on where that goes. We also have Winnipeg versus St. Louis going to be happening up happening as well. Um, why isn’t Winback winning? It’s kind It’s to me it’s a little crazy. Actually, there’s a stat I just saw of the St. Louis Blues. It’s one of the like the longest streaks I think is like home hometown or yeah, so NHL.com postes 15game home winning streak including playoffs. It’s tied for the fourth longest in NHL history for a home home uh streak. So, I mean, now they’re going back to Winnipeg for game seven. Hellabuk’s been pulled three of those games. Did you start Do you start Halle Buck? I I think yeah. You ride in on the horse you brought you here, right? In this case, the horse was Hella. Like I think about when you think about who’s a Vzna winner, one of the best goalies who just he’s having a hard time in the playoffs. I think it’s all mental. I was talking to the overtime hockey guys about this and they’re like, “What do you think the problem is with Hellbuck?” I said, “Dude, I think he needs to drink a beer. I think he needs to relax. He knows what he’s doing. H goending, if you overthink it, you you get in your head. And so to me, I think he just he needs to have a beer, sit down, have some laughs with the boys. Not not his teammates either. I think he needs to have some friend like friends out. I think he needs to fly his friends out. They need to have a couple beers, relax, hang out, have some laughs, you know, do some duck calls, which I suppose he loves doing. Um, and so to me, I just think he I think that would be that’s what I would do, right? Like like think about like when you have a test or anything like you can cram and study and everything and it’s it’s good, but like sometimes you just need to relax, right? Like the creative creative juices flow. Have a beer, man. Like hang out. No shots, just a beer. Just beers. Like four tops, right? A four tops. Like a good head buzz. Nothing too crazy. That’s that’s I think that would help him wonders. So, um, going to the next one. So, we already talked about Vegas and, uh, Vegas going against Edmonton. To me, can you believe LA lost? I’m still blown away. You have Darcy Keer who is Vzna finalist. Hell Bucks going to win. Vzna finalist, but to me, LA should have won ran away with this. They I there’s no excuse of why they should have lost this. It’s a little ridiculous. It’s a little ridiculous that you guys lost this because you have you had some guys ever in great years and you kind of just wonder like okay it’s been four years you’ve lost to Edmonton four times. What what else is there to do? Like what else can you do? Like I I and I will say I think the issue was when coach Hiller, right, head coach Hiller uh made that call. I think it was game three or game four. It was four to three. Kane, Evander Kane scores a goal and it looks like it might be goalie interference or that he kicked or he either he kicked it or it looked like goalie interference. Either way, the video coach gives direction. Hiller makes a decision and decides to challenge that for goalie interference. And mind you, it’s like three minutes left in the in the game and it was 4-3, now four to four. Now you’re going to try and challenge that goal. And if you miss, if you miss, the Edmonton Oilers go on a power play with two minutes left. You want to take that risk that you potentially be on you have to be on the penalty kill with three minutes left in a g a game that you need to win. I would not have done that. And I think hindsight’s 2020, of course, right? But like you you have to have like believe in your horses like, “Okay, yeah, guys, it’s 4-4. It’s a bummer, but let’s let’s ride it out. We can score. We’ve scored four goals on them already, right?” That’s the mindset you have to go with that. So to me with that, they challenge it, they lose. It was a goal. So now it’s 4-4. Edmonton’s on the power play. Three minutes left. 10 seconds in, uh, Evan Bashard bombs that goal. Now it’s 5-4. Within over 10 sec within 10 seconds, mind you, 10 seconds, right? Call 11 seconds. You have you go from the Edmonton or or the LA Kings up four to three and then 11 seconds later it is 54 Edmonton. Crazy crazy. It’s it’s it’s it’s honestly it’s crazy to me. I I again hindsight is 2020 but like what are you doing dude? Like LA like demons like come on. What are you doing? Like it’s Toron it’s like with Toronto’s Demons. Edmonton or LA Kings demons are the Edmonton Oilers. So ridiculous, man. Ridiculous. So, um let’s take a quick break uh for uh for this. Actually, when we’ve Oh, what do we have? St. Louis. We did that one. We did Colorado Avalanche, LA Kings, and Oh, we did we did knock out the playoff stuff. Oh, we’ll knock out some hockey news after this because they got some signings. Calgary did a signing. Um a new coach signing. This is going to be exciting, man. So, and a couple rumors as well for some players that maybe uh need some trades. We have uh Julian Breez was talking about Isaac Howard um and him not looking to sign. Uh so, we pull up his we go to the Tampa Lightning. So, Isaac Howard was a NCAA pick. Um, he was a first overall pick, 31st overall, I’m pretty sure. Um, let me pull up his I’m on Pockedia. Um, but he is not signed. Where are you at? Is Isaac Howard? Yep. So, he if he goes to the he doesn’t sign by by the end, he by the end of next year, I think it’ll be a free agent. So, um, he has decided to go back to Michigan State to run a backup with Trey Augustine at Michigan State. um a first round pick in 2022 and in the NCAA with Michigan State, 52 points in 37 games. Phenomenal. Year before that, he had um 36 points in 36 games again with Michigan State. At the World Junior Championship, the U20, um he had nine points in seven games. Seven Seven of those were goals as well. So, this guy is definitely like he wants to play and I think on a team like the Tampa Bay Lightning, there might not be a spot for him because this guy is not a a third line guy. He is absolutely a top six guy. So, he wants to have a spot in this lineup where he can actually thrive. So, if we look at uh also if we look at where his position, he is a left winger um left shot, but he’s also 5’11. So, I think he wants Hey, he wants some bonuses. Come on. Of course, he wants some bonuses here. So, with that, the Let me pull this up. If you’re looking at your lineup, the left wing currently is Jake Gensel, um, who signed a a seven-year contract with with the Lightning, and you have Bren who’s in the first year of seven seven-year contract. And then you have Brennan Hegel, who is a in the first year of his eight-year contract. Um, and then you look, okay, Nikita Coutro, you going to take him off the right side? No. You take uh Gage Conclaves, I guess he’s I He’s got 20 points in 60 games. I I don’t know how he’s doing. that was at the regular that was in the regular season. But to me, you have like an Oliver Bjork Strand who who who you traded for. You have him for this for the next year as well. Like there’s just not really a spot for him that like it makes all the sense. Like he’s going to get pushed down lineup on the third line. He wants to play up on the top top left wing. And to me, I’m biased, but I’m a Red Wings fan and I would absolutely and mind you, Tampa Lightning made a trade with the Red Wings this year. they were part of they were the third party that did held uh a million plus dollars of Yanni Gore’s contract um for a fourth round pick. So to me I would I I don’t know if I’d send a first. I think that um you know Red Wings first is worth too much. I would if I were them I would send because you you so bas basically if okay theoretically this was this is what happened. This is why I think it’s advantageous for the LA the Tampa Bay Lightning to trade him, but you have to get proper value, right? So, if a guy doesn’t sign, he that it’s a funny angle. Uh if if if he doesn’t sign, then they get a compens compens compensation basically a compensation pick. Compensatory Yeah, compensatory pick. Um because you s you drafted a guy, you’re you’re supposed to sign him, you’re supposed to sign him, he didn’t sign. So if you have a first round draft pick, I don’t know how it is in the rest of rounds, but if it’s a first round draft pick and he doesn’t sign, he goes to free agency, you get a second round draft pick. So in the next draft, so instead instead of they use a first round draft pick for him, he didn’t sign. That’s a bummer. whatever ex accentuating circumstances, but since he didn’t sign, uh the NHL is like, “Okay, we’re going to give you a second round pick because he didn’t sign.” Now, it’s like the lowest of the low secondary pick. You basically take his draft position um for so he was 31st overall. You add 32 teams like 32 positions and he would they would be receiving the 63rd draft pick. Yeah. 63rd second round pick. So, it’s basically a high third round pick or a super low It’s a super low second round pick, but it’s basically a high third. And you’re like, “Okay, is that are we going to get a player of impact that’s going to be ready and available in the window that we want to be good in?” Probably not. Like, even if you draft a guy at with that second round pick, is he going to be good enough to be on the team, be an impact? No. And Dylan Lin talked about this too, how he’s like, “Why don’t we trade for any of the dread line? the fourth one pick that we draft I’m not even going to be able to probably not even be able to play with until he’s here right you draft him at 18 takes like three four years to develop Lark gonna be 32 at that point right so Tampa light have to think about that with their age and the people that they have in their organization and that they’re they’re in their window they they don’t have as much time as they think they do if you look at the guys I mean they make a trade with circ I mean relative I I like better than kor geek and all that stuff I think they got good value Heck, Nikita Fudra 31 years old. Brain point 29 prime Gensel 30. Uh Cell and Hegel 26 27 that’s fine. Nick Paul’s 30 like I mean you have Victor Heaven’s 34. Ryan Don is 35. Like you may this may need to be a retool. Even Vasilki if you look at him 30 years old you might need to do a retool here, right? A like a year or two where you’re not as great. May make the playoffs. Maybe do like a Minnesota Wild thing where you’re tra you’re finding good guys. You trade they traded for um not Zoo. Who did they trade for? Adam Urak. Adam Urak. Um Adam. I’m pretty sure it was Adam. Anyways, yeah. Oh, David. David Urech. That’s who they traded for. Sorry. Because Dave Urch Yeah, because Adam Urch’s on the St. Louis Blues. Dave Urchek is on the Minnesota Wild was the sixth round pick um from the Columbus Blue Jackets. So with that, to me, you’re looking at uh a team that may just need to take some time and reevaluate with what they’re doing. So well, I mean, we’ll see. I mean, it’ll be really interesting to see how I again, I think they should trade him because I think they can get better than a second round pick for Isaac Howard straight up. I can. So, um, one one signing that did happen was, uh, the Rangers tra uh, signed Jussi Parsons to a two-year contract at 1.25 million. Um he played with three teams this year. He started the Predators got traded um Predators traded Parsons and uh a Nunan I think it was to No, it wasn’t Nunan. They traded Parsons. They they they they tried him out in Colorado. It did not end up working. Let’s actually look it up. I’ve now now I got myself curious. Parsonins, where you at? Um anyway, so with Utah Parsons, he played with the Rangers, the Colorado Avalanche, um and the National President Predators. So [Music] Parins, there we go. Boom. Goodness gracious. Killing myself. All right. Uh yeah, so he played 15 games with with the National Predators, had five points. Played 22 games with the Colorado Avalanche, had six points. Played five or 11 games with the Rangers and had five points. So if you look at the trades, oh yeah, Uso Par Parsons had they traded out a third round pick for him and uh Pavl Andre a 24 year old prospect basically guy they weren’t going to keep. Um and then again he gets traded again to the uh Rangers because they’re like oh it didn’t work you know as like hey it didn’t work. Okay, so they sent out Parsons, Calvin Dhan, and a second round pick to the as well as a fourth round pick to the Rangers for Jimmy VC, uh, a prospect, Hank Comp, and then the big piece they really wanted, Ryan Lingren. I wonder I’m curious if they end up resigning him. He only had 19 points in 54 games, but that’s really not his goal. He’s more of a defensive defenseman. So, we’ll see how that ends up happening. Um, so that so but speaking of the New York Rangers, well, guess who they signed? They signed Mike Sullivan uh as a uh goalie or as the head coach. I believe it was a five-year contract was they did. I don’t think he finishes it out because I think the um the owner, not Chris Jury is the is the GM. But to me, I I think that it’s just that New York has such high expectations that I think that we’re not going to see him finish that contract, which is not uncommon of coaches. There’s like a it’s like they they’re there for like two point two and a half years I think is the normal coaching lifespan with the team. So um side note uh the Jim Rutherford’s quote says if Quinn Hughes doesn’t want to stay in Vancouver by the 2027 trade deadline. The Canucks will quote have to do something. So it is very interesting. We know Jim Rutherford has been having some crazy quotes. He said that we know Quinn Hughes wants to play with his brothers. So he basically was like oh well I guess we could trade for them. you’re going to trade for Jack Hughes and Luke Hughes. Give up the farm. You You give up every You have to give up everything, right? Um it is much more likely that the Quinn Hughes goes to the New Jersey Devils. Um I hope they come back to Michigan, go to Detroit, please. Um but to me, I think it’s more likely. I mean, you’re trading one one superstar athlete over a superstar athlete and a up and cominging star. It just makes a lot more sense for Quinn Hughes to go. I think it happens. I think they also trade uh Patterson as well this year. Uh, I think they have to do a full reset because to me, I just don’t think they’re they’re not they’re not doing this thing very smart. Unfortunately, they’re not running this team very smart. And I think there’s when when when Rick Taka, the coach, decides that he doesn’t want to resign a contract with your team, that really tells you something uh of that of significance that he, you know, that he’s not there’s some turmoil there. A little bit of, you know, what’s happening there? You know, what’s happening? So, um, so just begs a question on what Vancouver is going to be doing. So, we also have Matt Coronado of the Calgary Flames signs a seven-year deal at $6.5 million AEV. He’s 22 years old. In 77 games this year, he had 24 goals, 47 points. So, a decent deal. Um, so we I mean, I think he’s playing on the second line, I’m pretty sure. Um, he’s he’s 22 years old. He’s young, right? So, he gets to come through this team. Uh, and he like this buys out two two UFAS a year. So to he will be 29 when he’s at the end of his contract. So that decides like, hey, if he doesn’t want to stay, if he wants to stay in Calgary, awesome. If not, he can walk to UFA. So that gives him the option and I love that for him. Uh, we actually will go to Freddy Anderson signs a one-year deal with the Carolina Hurricanes at one year at 2.75 million. Most of that is in bonuses um including playing uh 35 plus games or 40 games and if they reach the Eastern Conference finals uh with him playing at least half of the club’s playoff games he gets an extra $250,000. Uh this year he did have he did have an injury but he was 138-1 with a 8.99 save percentage and 11 and a half goals saved above expected. So, you know, he they don’t get he the save percent save percentage wasn’t there, but again, Carolina stifles a lot of those shots. So, usually the shots that actually make it through are pretty high quality shots. Um, and so save percent wasn’t there, but the goals stay above expected. I mean, this guy is just still clearly killing it. I think he’s like he’s he’s late 30s. He’s a late 30s guy. Um cuz it it cracks me up cuz like he somehow he’s just still staying so relevant and I and I’m like you’re he’s 35 years old. Like 35 he’s 6’4 and he’s just been he’s just been killing it. What was the contract he was on recently cuz So he was making $3.4 million. He he stay in the league he gets to keep playing. Clearly he likes it in Carolina. So hey I’m not I’m not knocking him at all. Good for him. Get get your money man. So um lastly do a couple things. I think I think we’re good. I think this is all the news we have. Um, actually, one other thing is that the Matias Ekholm will miss the entire second round against Vegas due to an undisclosed injury. I think he’s he’s just out. I think he’s just out for the rest of the whole season. He might become Stanley Cup finals. But to me, um, I think the, you know, teams do this. They’re like, “Oh, he’s out. He’s not going to be good to this.” And like it’s just they’re trying to hobble this guy along. I’m pretty sure he he maybe he didn’t snap anything. Maybe it’s like broken or something like that, but like, “Hey, oh, he’s going to be out for the first round.” They’re like, “Oh, okay. So, he’ll be back out for the second.” And they’re like, “No, he’s actually going to be out for the second, too. Okay, so is he going to be here for the third?” No, he’s not going to be here for the third either. It’s like it’s just how it goes. You try and hold your hold your uh cards close to your chest. Um, so be curious if he ends up coming back at all. I don’t know if he will, but let me know what your thoughts are. Hit like, subscribe. I really appreciate you guys stopping in. Thanks. It’s been a minute. Like I said, I I’m happy. I’m excited to do more videos and everything, more collaborations and maybe some live streams with the uh the Hockey Podcast Network. I want to thank them for sponsoring the video and DraftKings as well. And I love you guys. I’ll see you in the next one. Bye. Yeah.
