Mikko Rantanen Has 2nd Straight Hat Trick in Stars Game 1 Win vs. Jets | 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs

Obviously the building and the crowd is in the favor of the Jets, but they got to get back to work, especially low in the offensive zone and create. Shot save. It’s loose. Score. What an effort by the Moose who was loose in front and from a prone position. He used that long arm to poke that one by Halabach who was out of position. And Mo Ranton ties the game. Oh, he gets Ranton in on the fourth line, but Sam Steel creates this play. Watch him drive Pian back. That opens up the lane all the way across to Dadenov who slides it over. He’s looking for the shot. The rebound goes right to Ranton. Samberg trying to do everything he can to contain him and he just gets his stick free right there and pokes it past Helibuck, but gives Sam Steel a lot of credit for starting this offensive zone play. Driving the Winnipeg Jets deep. There’s Rantin. Spins off the wall with the puck. Steel. So once again, here’s that Rantin shift with Donov and steel double shifting a bit. Here’s Harley to the net. Score. Mo Rantin does it again. He deflects the shot from the point. It’s his second goal of the game. His seventh of the Stanley Cup playoffs. White out. And they’re loving this. And watch Grant uh Brandon. He just stays low and then times like a flash screen. Just comes in front. Gets a little piece of it. As you mentioned, Miller wasn’t happy. He felt that he was elbowed high in the head on this play. But just look at Renton. He’s coming across. Takes away the eyes initially. Here’s Hints. Duchain just on side. Duchaine. Nice job. Sends it across. Ranton in front. Score. Rantin again. It’s a hat-tick in Winnipeg. Hence was right in front, but it’s Rantin who remains scorching hot. The play at the offensive blue line by Matt Duchain. He gets pinched off. You see Lowry sees him. He pinches him off in literally in a phone booth. Makes a play and makes that pass over to Ranton. And does it go off the stick of the Winnipeg Jets defender in Samberg? It does. As Ranton was looking across to hints and I think Heluck was reading it as well to come across and it goes off Samberg into the back of the net and when you’re good, you’re good.

Mikko Rantanen scores a hat trick for the second straight game to lead the Dallas Stars over the Winnipeg Jets in Game 1.

  1. First postseason natural hatty in Stars' franchise history thanks to the MOOSE as the Stars finally win a Game 1 of a playoff series (first career one for Oettinger and first for DeBoer as the Stars' head coach) for the first time since the 2020 NHL Stanley Cup Final!

  5. Ive completely checked out of hockey. The playoff experience is awful. Win or lose. The times are ridiculous, and I wonder every year why I even watch. Not to mention, they clearly want Vegas to win.

  6. ESPN. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get better commentators and fix the sync issues. When I say better what I really mean Is that woman commentating a gold game.
