The league needs to start protecting the players, start handing out suspensions and fines for blatant elbows on goaltenders, it’s like the Panthers prefer to win the series but putting all our goalies in the hospital.
I know this is somewhat unrelated, but why does Ekblad look so sad all the time? Maybe that’s why he’s out here causing all this chaos..hurt people hurt people, or something like that lol
If I’m a leafs defenceman next person that runs my goalie is getting a cross check in the chicklets.

At least from this angle it looks like he might actually be attempting a hockey play. I still think he absolutely meant to come down on Woll, but I can at east see how he’s going to argue it’s an accident.
Completely ridiculous there wasn’t even a goalie interference call though. What are the refs looking at if not the giant defender trying to dunk on top of the goalies head DEEP in the crease?
Smells like Saints Bountygate in here.
That wasn’t accidental. He just came back from a 2 game suspension for throwing his elbow out like that. He was leading with it all night again.
Suspending him again will not change his behavior. Coaching will not change his behavior.
I honestly think that man has legit brain damage. He seems to be missing a gear or two between “functional human” and “animal.”
If you don’t believe me, look at his eyes when he did his MMA choke hold (that everyone was cheering for at the time) on Evan Bouchard last year in the final. There was no soul behind his eyes as Bouchard was tapping out.
What a fucking bunch of goons. And fuck Paul Maurice too.
Always leading with the elbows. This one wasn’t as bad as the last one, but come on.
Proposed rule change: no part of an offensive player’s body can enter the crease of his own volition. If they do, it’s treated like an icing call and the face off goes to the other end of the ice. The stick may enter the crease to play a puck that has entered the crease, but cannot interfere with the goalies natural ability to protect the net.
Several sports have rules like this already. Seems like a no brainer at this point.
Edit: turns out this was a rule similar to this back in the day. Screwed some teams apparently (allegedly). I still believe there could be an argument for repercussions for any incidental/intentional contact to the goalie while they are in the crease.
I actually wouldn’t care if they suspended him the rest of the playoffs. But the league would actually be in our favor if they did that
Yo, is anyone else starting to think that the Panthers are just a bunch of goons trying to injure their way through the playoffs?
Actual fucking loser. You could almost give someone the benefit of the doubt since he was trying to catch the puck first, but then it’s an immediate extension into the head, exactly like the last one. Pathetic
You really think he did that on purpose? What if that puck never goes up in the air? Was Ekblad just gonna cruise in and elbow Woll anyways? I don’t think any player is gonna think that fast, ‘I’m gonna catch the puck and quickly hit the goalie in one fell swoop!’
This really just looks like he went and jumped for the puck and his momentum kept carrying him forward. The reason why is arm is in front is because he’s keeping his stick in front of him so he can play when/if he catches it.
I know people are mad about Stolarz and I understand but now people are just looking for shit and blowing minor things out of proportion.
If I’m a goalie on the Leafs, I’m going Belfour or CuJo and lumberjacking any red and white or black and white jerseys that near the crease. Maybe just CuJo on Cheveldae, but eith more intent.
They could always call embellishment after the contact.
Holy shit you guys are obsessed
Can we be honest here folks? Fuck Paul Maurice. This behavior comes right from the top of the chain, I guarantee you.
On a side note: the NHL is a joke league, with literal baboons running the player safety committee.
I don’t think that’s that bad of a hit. Now, any hit on your goalie should result in a stick to the teeth, but as far as contact goes this doesn’t look too egregious to me
That looks like a 12 to 6 illegal elbow Joe
TOR up 2-0 on Panthers and still crying about shit. This persecution/victim fetish is fucking wild.
As a panthers fan, this is pretty upsetting to watch. Even if it wasn’t intentional ekblad should still have some awareness of where he is in relation to the goalie. I was fine with the Hagel elbow bc him & all of Tampa are clowns for thinking a blind side hit on a team’s captain w/out the puck is clean bc it was shoulder to chest. But this one is hard to defend
WHY EVEN HAVE THE DOPS?
This wasn’t thaaaat bad, but still contact with the goaltender. What happened to protecting goalies? I thought any contact whatsoever is supposed to be a penalty. On another note, officiating has been a joke both ways in this series.
Back in my day, players policed the other team.
I hate Florida so much. I’m cheering for you Leafs, from an Oilers fan.
Just to be clear, Fuck The Leafs, but that’s pretty shitty.
Panthers, dirtiest team since the 70’s flyers era. a stain on the sport.
I dunno I feel like leafs fans are trying to curry some favour here? The reverse angle was the only one I saw last night and it doesn’t look GREAT. But from the normal camera it looks like Ekblad jumps to get the puck and reaches for the crossbar to stop himself and prevent himself from bashing into Woll much worse. I would’ve called off a goal if it were scored, but this one is much ado about nothing for me.
Seriously given the history of cheap shots (and cheap headshots) from the Panthers, why aren’t any Leafs defensemen (or forwards for that matter) going after Ekblad the suspended-from-steroids dude who just hit another of their goalies in the head?
Is it purely not wanting to take a cheap penalty? I’d expect my team (in this situation) to violently defend my goalie if the dirty, rat bastard team that is playing them already took our starting goalie out with a shot to the head 😡.
Purely objective question and not at all salty from the multiple dirty hits and injuries this garbage team caused my team in the first round
NHL when high stick: you are responsible for your stick
NHL when elbow: you are not responsible for your elbow provided the play can be conceivably interpreted as not being an intentional elbow by the dementia-riddled goons running the league office
Yeah y’all are outraged over absolutely nothing on this one. Again…
It’s disgusting that Florida has got me cheering for the Leafs
I think it’s interesting ekblad comes back from a steroid suspension and is now the most aggressive and dirty version of himself I’ve seen since he’s been in the league. Im not sold on these head shots regardless of the comments losing their shit, they’re 50/50 to me, but after Bennett you’d think you’d make it a point to not do anything close to that again given the backlash. Yet here we are which makes me feel like both are intentional. For once I have to root for Toronto even though their fans are the absolute worst, and just hope Carolina or Washington beats them in the conference final lol

odd that he just got back from a suspension…
