It’s fucking disgusting that this happens so often. Players crosschecking their opponents in the neck and face. It is dangerous and it is only a matter of time before a player suffers a life altering injury from it or a serious retaliation/escalation (McSorley/Bertuzzi)…
The league has to do something about it.
Those sticks might have flex further down the shaft. But where people are using to two-hand someone does not give. It is effectively a weapon.

5 min and the game seemed fine to me. It was such a bizarre crosscheck to face, but seemed sufficient. Leaf crosschecked guy in face tonight only 2 mins. Eerily similar just no blood.
Should have been 1 game at least.
The inconsistency is laughable at this point.
I really want to see them throw a dart or spin a wheel to see what the fine should be

Nick has a salary of $3m this year. A $7,812.50 isn’t a punishment, it’s the cost for the crosscheck.

The only way this kind of thing, elbows to the head, vicious slashes, and hitting players into the boards from behind are ever going to stop is if the league actually institutes mandatory set discipline for these actions. **Intentional or not, the actions still have the same potential consequences**. Do we really want to see players with broken backs, necks, or faces before the league actually takes it seriously? The speed of the game has increased over time and the potential for serious injury has increased too.
If the league really wants to reduce serious injuries, then they have to do something to eliminate as much potential injury as possible. The only way to do this is to introduce more severe repercussions for these types of actions. If a player knows they will get a 2 game minimum suspension for a cross check to the head, you can bet they’ll be more careful.
How did Mcdavid get suspended but Roy doesn’t? Make it make sense
