Mike Woodson Joins The Kings Coaching Staff!

Our big news for you and your family. Your guy Mike Woodson has a new job. Mike Woodson is returning to the NBA. The former Knicks head coach, former Indiana basketball head coach has been named the associate head coach of the Sacramento Kings under Doug Christie. The 67year-old Mike Woodson is the associate head coach of the Sacramento Kings. He’s back on his feet, man. I know you’re happy for him. What’s your reaction? Let’s see here. Sacramento Country Club Golf Courses. Um, ooh, I mean, they got some special this Del Paso Country Club, four and a half stars right in Sacramento. Clubhouse looks fantastic. Um, yeah, good on you, Woody. I’m just very surprised that he’s back coaching like so soon and wanting to be back on the, you know, on the coaching scene. Uh, I thought that Mike Woodson had made enough money like in his coaching career and done enough where he kind of just was like, I’m sick of this coaching stuff. I want to be done with it. Because I’ll tell you right now, obviously I’m not the biggest baddest NBA guy whatsoever. If I was choosing a job to be an assistant coach for, I think Sacramento Kings would fall on the bottom five of that list. Why? Well, you tell me why I would. Hey, they got some good players. They just traded their best player, Keegan Murray. Is he chomping at the bit to coach Keegan Murray? I’m still a believer, man. Uh yeah, I I think Mike Woodson was as astounded as I was in the Big 10 tournament in 2022. Yeah. I How many times do you think that people are going to tell Mike Woodson, “Shut up, old man.” Not often. I mean, this is not He’s not just like an assistant. He’s the associate head coach. That’s a big deal. Yeah. To Doug to uh Who’s their head coach? Quiz Doug Christie. Yeah, Doug Christiey’s only got to be like what, 50? A lot. You How does it work when your associate head coach is like 20 years older than the current head coach? You don’t like sit and waiting for that job, do you? Yeah. Well, yeah. He can’t sit and um No, but for real though, like it’s it’s kind of he he if you’re the associate head coach and also like given where it’s at with the Kings, anytime you’re on the staff or you’re the associate head coach of the Kings, you could be the actual head coach any given day. Like they will fire you. They they do that. Today’s video is presented by Underdog Fantasy. Well, what’s what’s going on with your hat? Well, my hat’s not supposed to be this way, is it? Do you think that Mike Woodson will get a real head coaching job again in the NBA before he retires? Um, yes. Like I’m a little bit surprised. I guess I shouldn’t be. He has such an established career in the NBA. But like I’m a little bit surprised that anyone even the Kings swooped in to give him a title like associate head coach. Like when Jawan got ran out of Michigan, I just I understand Mike Woodson is a much different caliber of NBA legend as a coach than uh than Jawan Howard is. But I don’t know. It felt like Jawan was just like trying to find any job he could possibly take at all. Get foot back in the door. Whereas like Mike Woodson is still everyone’s like, “Oh yeah, he can coach. This is a great asset.” Are you surprised by that? Yeah. Uh I’m a I’m definitely surprised by that. Um especially given because I thought they were trying to like kind of have a little bit more youth shift here. Um am I doubting Woodson’s NBA coaching acumen? Like I I mean he was good with the Hawks, right? Is that what it was? Or the Knicks? He’s had good stints with a lot of different teams, I think. Yeah. But Okay. Like I I I’m just so I’m so confused. Does Mike Woodson know that he’s going to work for the Kings? You don’t think he wants to work? He clearly wants to work. He’s back. Yeah. Like maybe the owner of the Kings took him out for a round. He’s like, “Yeah, if I stick this on the green, you got to be my associate head coach.” And Woody’s like, “You bet your sweet ass, Vivic.” And then, you know, Vivic just threw a dart and all of a sudden he’s got to be the associate head coach. Do you think that Mike Woodson would rather be an assistant associate head coach on the Kings or Indiana’s head coach right now if given the choice? Associate head coach. Uh he seemed like he really cared about the Indiana job late in the tenure, but like No, I I think he’d still want to be the coach of Indiana, but now that he’s out of it, don’t you think part of him’s like, “Yeah, get my check, just fly around private jets.” And like I feel like he could do that without working. Yeah, I guess. Like, so you think he should just retire? Oh, I love Woody, man. I love Woody. He’s up there though, right? Oh. Oh, yeah. Sure. I I love post Indiana Woody. I won’t was if I’m if I was Mike Woodson’s son. Let me throw that Let me throw myself out there. I’m Carter Woodson. Um, first of all, poss second of all, like do you really want to go to the NBA grind of being an NBA associate head coach? Like, just come on. Let’s go get a Let’s go get nine in. Let’s go get ice cream. Yeah, let’s go. Dad, take me and get ice cream. He’s got to take Zack Lavine to get ice cream. Yeah, Dad. I want ice cream. I want to go home, Dad. Uh, so the New York Post like wrote up an article about Woodson taking this job and uh, there’s one sentence in it about his Indiana tenure. May I read it to you, please? Of course. Indiana had been one of the highest NIL spending teams in the country and was ranked number 17 in the preseason AP poll. That’s how we’ll remember Mike Woodson’s tenure at Indiana. All time great. Best of luck, Woody. We will genuinely miss you in the Big 10 from a content and winning perspective.

  1. So much for his decision to leave Indiana to retire. Of course we all know he was fired and allowed to say publicly he was retiring. This confirms it.

  2. Woodys daughter lives in Cali. She just had a child a year or two ago, I’m sure that played a factor.

I hope that scumbag McNeely gets drafted by the Kings
