Yankees vs. A’s Game Highlights (5/11/25) | MLB Highlights

Happy Mother’s Day everybody. A chance to win a series at home on Mother’s Day. Hopefully a Mother’s Day winner here on a beautiful Sunday for baseball. Pink bats, bases, gloves, and chest protectors. What a special first pitch it was today. Three moms. There’s Lawrence Butler’s mother, Lisa. Grant Holman’s mother, Kimberly, and Tyler Sodstrom’s mother, Tammy, throwing out the first pitch. It’s going to be right-handed veteran Luis Severino, taking on his former club. And you can look at the numbers over the last five outings for the big righthander. A sub3 RA Luis Severino. And that’s the man on the mound on this beautiful Mother’s Day afternoon here in West Sack. Ninth start of the season for the veteran right-hander. And it’s a big start simply because he’s towing the slab against his former team. And Rice cracks one to right in. Comes on Duhar and makes the catch for the first out. 3-2. Stro him out. It took a little more than Severino wanted, but he sits down Aaron Judge in the first. And that slider just took a hard left and kept going. My goodness. Here’s the 3-1 pitch and Bellinger. It’s a highf fly ball to left. Playable. Sodorm is there about three steps to his left, drifting with it. At the last second, he lunges to his left and there’s the effect of the win and he makes the catch. Lefty Ryan Yarro. Well, good numbers. His last outing was a start against Tampa. He’s making his second start. Comebacker handled by Yarro. He’ll toss to Gold Schmidt. Too away. Tyler Soderstrom left on left. Breaking ball. Grounded right past Yarro towards second. Bbots charges. Gloves. Throws on the run. Nice play. Got him. Eight pitches. Eight pitches in a one, two, three. How about that for Ryan Yarro to start the day as Goldmid attacks the first pitch. Sends it into the gap in left center field. It’ll find some grass and it’ll head to the wall. Goldmid chugging into second. He’s rounding second heading into third. The cut off will be late. Goldmid will slide into third now. Bed said that the ball got wedged in the bottom of the fence. Let’s see what the umpire’s rule. He gets under there. He puts his hands up. The call from New York is the ball was lodged. This is a two base award. Now runners on the corners. Anthony Vulpi. 230, five homers, 21 RBI’s. And a bouncer through the hole into left field. It’s a base hit. Goldmid scores. Up to second goes Dominguez. RBI single for Anthony Vulpi. And they score first against Severino. It’s one- nothing Yankees. A really good at bat. Here’s that two seam fast ball from Severino. Supposed to be away. You see how it leaks out over the middle of the plate. Bases are loaded with nobody out. The Yankees already leading one to nothing. 3-1. It’s inside. It’s ball four. It’s another run for the Yankees. Severino gives up a walk with the bases loaded and it’s two nothing. 3-1 home. Bibbos up the middle behind the bag to second base Wilson. Has to go to first just gets Bbos for the out but a run scores. Vulpi from third. Wells up to third. Cabrera to second and the Yankees have a three nothing lead. Bryce hit by the pitch and it reloads the bases for Aaron Judge. 01 cracked into right field. It’s a base hit for Judge. Well scores. Cabrera gets the wave around. He’ll score as well. Rice moves to second. A two-run single for Aaron Judge. And the Yankees have put up a five spot here in the second. It’s 5 nothing. Just zero command from Severino. This is a two seam fast ball out over the middle. Langalers wanted it in. Here’s Oswaldo Cabrera. Switch hitter batting left. Cabrera into the gap in left center. Bracing to cut it off is Soderstrom. Dominguez wheeling around. He’s getting the wave around. Here comes the throw home. The Martian slides in safely. Jason Dominguez jetting all the way from first. Cabrera is on at second. An RBI for Oswaldo Cabrera and the Yankees are ahead six to nothing. What speed by Jason Dominguez and a great send by Luis Rojos over at third. He saw that ball get into the gap. Sodestrom does not have a great arm. And there you see Wilson has to back up. He one hops it to the plate but not in time. Here’s Aaron Judge. Drove in two with a base hit back in that fiveun second inning for the Yankees. Judge cranks it into left field. That’s a base hit. Sharp turn around first. He’s going for two. Here comes Judge rumbling in and he slides in safely with a double. Oh, the hustle paying off for the Yankees here on Sunday afternoon. To center field. Leave breaks back. He’s underneath. Will make the catch. Aaron Judge won’t test his arm and will stay at second. Two away. The one-two pitch that’s bounced up the middle. Mui to his left. Wilson will scoop it up and sling it over to Curts and the inning is over. 6-3 on the foot. No runs, one hit, one man left. Bottom of the fourth. It is a 6 nothing Yankee lead as the left-hander Ryan Yarro will face Brent Rooker. Bouncing ball and over to get it was Cabrera. It tips off his glove and leaks into left. leadoff base runner for the A’s. First pitch to Sodestrom and he’ll drop it into left. Back to back singles now against Yarro. It’s on Duhar now. Bounced into a 643 double play in the second inning. That’s swung on. Little pop up in shallow center field. Might be trouble. Long way to come and it’s going to fall in for a base hit. Coming in to score as Rooker going to second base. Soda and the A’s are on the board. It’s six to one. Little jam shot into center field for Miguel. His 16th RBI of the year. loads the bases. Chance to really blow this game open. So here’s Ben Rice. Base is full. Two away. 3-1. Rice drives it deep right field way back. And goodbye. A grand slam for Ben Rice. Blows it open. Yankees having fun in Sacramento. They got a 101 lead. What a shot by Ben Rice. And they’re having fun up on home run Hill. That went almost all the way back on that Burm. And somebody I think caught it bare-handed. What a shot that was. And and mixed fuzz just jumped up and down when he he heard it. He didn’t even have to turn around and see it. He heard the sound and started jumping up and down on the mound like, “Oh no.” Judge lifts it into right and and Duhar will play it on a hop. So Judge extends the inning. One, two. Another hit. Bellinger puts it into right field. His first of the day. And Gold Schmidt’s the ninth hitter to bat here in the top of the fifth. Goldmid sends it high in the air to deep left field. Soderstrom will watch it bounce off the wall. Judge will jog in to score from second. Goldmid slides in safely with an RBI double. 11 to one Bombers. Well, that cutter is not cutting. This is a meatball, a hanger right out over the middle of the plate. Goldmid just missed the pitch before. They need a 10-run inning, Johnny. The pitch by Yarborough, but there’s one. That’s a start. That is crashed to right field and no doubt. Well, you’re right. That’s a start. It’s now 11-2 New York. Tremendous majestic shot by JJ Blade. Well over the A’s bullpen and a souvenir for a spectator about halfway up the burm out there. His fifth of the year. And another hit by pitch. The second time he’s been plugged today. Here’s Judge already with three hits today. And a bouncer through into left field. A four hit afternoon for Aaron Judge. Rice moves to second and the Yankee offense continues to roll here in the rubber game. Goldman is two for four with a couple of doubles. Now has 10 doubles on the year. Skyed in the air right center field. That’s going to be a bouncer over into the bullpen for a ground rule double. Rice will score. Judge will go to third. It’s the third double of the day for Goldman and the Yankees are back up by 10. It’s 12-2. Final three outs to get for the Yankees. They will belong to Tyler Matik, the lefty entering the game. Second appearance this series. Beday skies it in to right. Reyes right there to put it away. And that’s the ball game. Yankees win it 12-2 to take the series from the A’s in Sacramento.

  1. This offense is so great. And Stanton hasn't had an at bat yet. Jazz has been out. Bellinger hasn't got going and Dominguez will get better as the season goes on too. (Although I think he should ditch hitting RH)

DJL will be back this weekend, which will probably force Vivas to the bench, and sadly it looks like someone will have to get DFA'd…..they dont have any options left. One of the kids are going to get released.
