D-Backs vs. Giants Game Highlights (5/12/25) | MLB Highlights | Arizona Diamondbacks
On the hill tonight for the Giants will be the veteran right-hander Justin Verlander. Verlander 42 years of age and his 20th year at the big league level. Still looking for win number one. He’s 0 and2 on the year with a 45 oz error as this 3-2 is outside ball four. That is a leadoff walk. Got him. 0 for 12ks and Bailey’s very quick out of the squad as a catcher. Got him. Three pitches. Back-to- back strikeouts for Verlander. And there are two outs. That’ll be Josh Naylor. Rat towards the gap. And yes, lets it get by him. This is going to score Carol. And having a hard time picking it up is Jung Hu Lee. And it’s going to be a ground rule double. And the Giants catch a break on this cuz guess who’s got to go back to third. So Naylor gets credit for a double and not a triple. And there is not a run home. Carol at third, Naylor at second on the ground towards the hole. Adamus will take his time. And they just got him. So when I say take your time, I want to say not that much time. In any case, it’s a zero in the top of the first. And Y refi has your starting pitcher stats for Mel Kelly. Three and two and eight starts as this pitch is taken for strike three and Mel Kelly off and running here in the bottom of the first. He strikes out the first batter. All right, there Merrill Kelly’s deal and he rings up Yremsky and Chapman. Another sinker for Merrill and he’s punched out the first two looking. Now the one-two pitch. Strike three called. Fast ball right at the knees. Third strike out for Verlander. But Crawford in San Francisco at shortstop. That’s a tough act to follow. Sure is. Boy, Mel Kelly is lighting these guys up with that sinker. That’s his third strike out. And that is an enormous lead. Yes, he did. Merrill Kelly. Two strikeouts in the fourth. He has punched out four of the first seven Giants he’s faced. Here we go to the third inning now. Nothing nothing to score. and lead off man Corbin Carroll walked and should have scored on a Josh Naylor rocket to right center but it got stuck under the padding out there and was ruled a ground rule double and he made Corbin stop at second but he’s not stopping this time Corbin Carroll opposite field in San Francisco and that run finally does come across well they made him go back to third last time he’s coming all the way in this time his 12th of the year can’t stop it out beyond left field on the other side of the bench Hey, here’s a big swing in the miss. He struck him out with a fast ball. No. And two on MTOS when Mel Kelly has struck out five of the first eight. And that was a wicked Mel Kelly change up right there. So now with one out and one on, here’s Lordis Guriel Jr. Lurtis shoots it toward that corner. Come on ball. Get down. And it’s fair in the corner. Gabby scooting into third and it’s a double for Goreel. Backto back one out hits for the Diamondbacks off her lander on the count with one out. Now here’s the throw home by Adamus way before the arrival of Moreno. That wasn’t that close. Contact play I guess was odd. So Guriel moved over to third. Two down. Peromo got an RBI opportunity right here. Christian CS inning over. Second and third, one out. And Burlander gets through it. Up the middle. Peromo knocks it down and no more. And even had he held it, I don’t know that he was going to be able to throw out Elliot Ramos on that one. Second hit in a row for Elliot. Wilmer Flores on Dak. One to nothing. Arizona leading along the right field line. And Corbin Carroll plays it on a hop. He’s throwing toward third. Cut off by Peromo. Ramos slides safely into third on a single by Lee and Jung Julie puts runners in the corners for the Giants with one out. There’s a double play ball. Marte for Domo and they roll it. Marilyn Kelly for scoreless in San Francisco on a one- nothing lead. The only run of the game so far, the opposite field home run by Corbin Carroll. And here he is leading off another inning. And he blasts this one deep to center. Jong- all the way to the wall and it’s gone. Corbin Carroll. That’s two off Burlander and a two nothing Diamondback lead. Coming into this game was 0 for8 lifetime against Justin Verlander. Not anymore. Two solo homers by Carol. Marte is struck out and grounded out and caught by Adamus. He used every bit of the glove to catch this bad boy. Use it all. Nice play. The one-two swing and a miss. A foul hung on by Bailey. That’ll end the inning. So the damage again is the home run by Carol. Giants are coming up. The pitch swinging a shot towards the gap. Thomas on the move. He dives. He can’t get it and it rolls into the gap. Adamus headed for two and that’s where he’ll stop and he’s got a leadoff double here in the fifth inning. Anything to help more swing and miss from Bailey has struck out twice and Merrill has punched out six. So Kelly an out away from pitching out of a leadoff double by Willie Adams. CS popped out in the third inning and that’s a base hit. Adamus heading home and the throw is picked off by Naylor as the run has scored and uh cost finally gets tagged out to end the inning. But the Giants pick up a run on the base hit by Christian C. So Verlander gives up his seventh hit and he pauses and now the runner goes and Bailey’s got it. Here’s a throw. It’s a good one. They got him. Bailey guns down Moreno. Two down here in the sixth inning. How about that throw by Patrick Bailey? My goodness. Pitching duel between Mel Kelly and Justin Verlander. And Jerry rolls it into right. Lead off man aboard. That’s the ninth hit for the Diamondbacks against Verlander. Here comes manager Bob Melvin out to the mound. fans giving a a nice ovation to Verland who pitched extremely well, but he does leave in a spot where he will not be able to get a win. Third, short, second, first on the ground to third. Chapman on the backand. That’s one and two. Not a problem. Miller coming in. Kelly still on the bump as Snakes are in front. Two to one in this series opener. Swing and a base hit to left field. That was another change up and Wilmer was right on that one and just ripped it right between third and short. And here comes Willie Adamus. Got him. Harold Kelly goes to the change up. Gets strikeout number seven. Second time he’s punched out Adamus today. Line drive. That’s a base hit. It’s going to move Wilmer to second base. And that’s got to feel good for Patrick Bailey. The Giants have two on and one out. And Merrill Kelly at 95 pitches. Got him. That’s eight strikeouts. And there’s two down in the seventh. Thor is going to let him run at 101 pitches to this figures to be Merryill’s final hitter tonight. Do or die. Doss has knocked in their only run a single as last time. Hopped him up behind first. Marte and Naylor. Catel has got it. Yeah. And seven brilliant innings in the books by Mel Kelly. leadoff walk to put the tying run on here to open up the bottom of the eight minute. Beige bounces back nicely and gets a change up that Chapman waves at for the first out. The Stressky the possible tying run at first. The Giants trailing two to one. Now Elliot Ramos, he’s seen 10 pitches now from Beaks. Beaks and Ramos. The battle continues and Ramos lines it to left. Lurtis. Oh, he got it. Lisa’s Goreel Jr. somehow snagged it up against the wall in left 111 miles an hour off the bat of Elliot Ramos. That was an Ali Frasier fight that at bat and look how it ends. It’s Guriel with a knockout punch and Beaks fires. Ground ball up the middle. There’s Purdomo and thought about going to second. Throw to first just in time. Oh my goodness. Just enough mustard to beat Lee at first. And we go now to the nine. Diamond bags two and the Giants won. 21 Diamond Bags lead it. Miller comes into the game with a 1.08 erra. And now with Thomas at the plate and Dallas skies it deep to right. Corbin back to the bricks and he’s got a loud out number two. Just like that, the Giants are down to their final out. Patrick Bailey, last man standing. Can Shelby Miller close out a 2-1 ninth inning? Swing and a miss. He struck him out and that is your ball game. The Dbacks come into San Francisco and they take the opener by a final score of two to
Corbin Carroll and the Arizona Diamondbacks take on Jung Hoo Lee and the San Francisco Giants on May 12, 2025.

Let’s go just was gonna search this up ❤
Spectacular Game by Kelly and the bullpen but the RISP problem still continues to plague us, if we can solve that problem the sky is the limit for this team
Great win. Go D Backs.
Great pitching 😮 Giants couldn't compete 😢
Damn! What a catch!
Let’s goo D-backs!⚾️🐍🔥
Should have been a run in the first. Lee had no problem picking that ball up after he threw his arms up.
I still don't understand, why they don't design the outfield wall padding lower, to where it almost meets the dirt. This way, balls can't get trapped under there.
Good win DBACKS!!!!!¡
When is Verlander going to call it a career
That ground rule double returning Corbin to 3rd was a joke he was already finding the bag. Fix that bull shit MLB.
Dbacks 🛸🫶
“Having a hard time picking it up” easily grabs it
Should’ve had a run in the first
There's a 🐍 in my 👢… I love my team 🌵🌄🍻

Hopefully Justin Martinez will be back soon.
