  1. You've lost me guys. Brendan Shanahan is not an Isles guy. He's a former NYR and he lives in NY because of them. HARD PASS.

  2. I’d definitely be happy if we went with him, he’s also seasoned enough that’s he will tell ownership Lou’s isn’t having anything to do with the team. Pretty sure he will start to fix whatever the hell is going on in Bridgeport by bringing in new guys.

  3. Also; to clarify my position, I want to make it known that I loved Brendan Shanahan as a player because (like anybody else who was a hockey fan in the 90s and 2000s), the guy was a dog in the playoffs and scored big time goals and won SC, but that success has not translated as an Executive yet 8 years into the job; and yes that can still change. Something about it for me doesn't pass the smell test. I'll admit, my initial comment was a gut reaction, but I dunno.

With guys like Matt Darche and Scott White, there is a winning pedigree there. The messaging is a bit muddy because I feel like you want someone with a winning track record in this position.

  4. I mentioned it a month ago. I think Shanahan would be a great choice and I think this is why Lou is hanging around, just to hold the fort until Shanny makes the move. I think Lou would stay on but just as an advisor. I think Darche would be hired as GM.

  5. No, no, no, no, no, no and HELL NO!

Toronto is HIS mess, don't bring it here. He overpaid his "core" before they achieved anything and so they have no incentive to do anything. If Toronto manages to eek out a victory tonight it will be dumb luck, not a functioning hockey team. The "Shanaplan" has been a decade-long disaster. Should have left Lou in charge up there, because he would never have allowed Matthews to scam the team three times in 8 years like that. I don't think Lou got to do his job in Toronto; he was simply given orders and carried them out.
